The Merrell Women's Bare Access Arc 3 Trail Running Shoe was a great purchase! I have worn different types of Merrell athletic shoes in the past... and all of them are great, but these are fabulous! I love everything about them - the fit, the color, the durability - it's all good. These shoes are great for those who want the "barefoot" feel without going 100% barefoot. I wear these shoes for walking/running on pavement and dirt trails. There is just enough support to be comfortable, but thin enough to feel somewhat barefoot. Great fit all around. I do have narrow heels and high arches, and they fit my foot perfectly... so someone with a wide and/or flat foot may not be quite as comfortable.
I may just order another pair as a back-up when these get worn out!

I have serious arthritis in my feet and getting shoes that fit and are comfortable is difficult. These are amazing. I have them in 4 different colors and wear them all the time. It takes a few moments t get used to the "barefoot" fit rather than the soft gel fit of many runners, but these are truly comfortable for me. Each foot is different. but this sure works for me.

Finally, a shoe with enough room in the toe box and a minimalist fit. This is my second pair and my knees are happier than ever with these shoes. I believe they allow a natural gait and a good feel for the ground so your feet stay strong!

These are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They seem to put a little spring in my step. Super lightweight and responsive. The color is grey/light grey, not as light as in the photo. The "neon coral" is true to the color in the photo. The toebed of the shoe is larger than most... room to wiggle your toes without being overly wide. The shoe hugs the middle of the foot, making your foot look smaller than usual. The arch is quite pronounced in this shoe. When I tie the laces less tightly, it feels better. If you don't have much of an arch, I would avoid this shoe. My arches are fairly high, so it's good for me.

Just got these shoes a few days ago. I've already taken a few walks in them and they are so adorable. As for comfort and support, there's really not much to them. I can't tell much difference between wearing these and wearing my Old Navy flip flops that cost a couple bucks, so if I was a runner using these everyday for running, it might be a different story. But I just use them for walking around the neighborhood, plus sheer looks and adorableness, and for that purpose, they are perfect. :) About the size - I'm usually either a 7.5 or 8. In these shoes, the 7.5 fit perfectly and the 8 I tried on in a store was actually too big. I know some other reviewers commented that they had to size up, but not for me (and I usually do size up for Merrell too). One last thing - the price for these fluctuates a lot on here. If you watch it for a week or so, you'll probably get a great price. These sell in the store for about $90. They're normally on Amazon for around $75, but the price occasionally drops to around $55 which is when I bought them. Super score! ;)

I like these, but not for running. The toe box is fabulously roomy, and my piggies spread out with glee, but the heel needs to be a little more snug. As it is now, my heel slips -- even in the heavier wool socks I wear to keep my feet warm. Sockless, or in thinner running socks, my heel slips significantly and I just don't feel secure enough to run with these shoes. I recently tried a pair of Altras and my feet were swimming in them. Except for the heel. My heel was firmly seated and didn't slip at all. I wish I could combine the heel of the Altras with the rest of these Merrells.

I feel as if the laces are too short to get a really good, secure tie. I am a double knotter and can't do that with these. Even if I weren't a double knotter, though, these laces are short and may be even more so for someone with a wider foot.

As far as fit goes, I have finally found a running shoe where I didn't need to size up. I wear a 7.5 casual and bought these in a 7.5 and they fit perfectly -- plenty of room between my toes and the end of the shoe. For virtually ALL other running shoes, I have to size up to an 8.5 to get the proper space between my toes and the edge. I tried on an 8.5 in-store and they were really, really big. So I categorized these as fitting large when compared to other running shoes, as many other runners I know have to size up from their casual size to get a proper running shoe fit.

Trail running? I'm not sure. The sole is smooth and lacks lugs. The other trail running shoes I own have nubby lugs for transaction, so I just don't know how these would fare on a dirt, grass, or other non-paved surfaces. As mentioned above, however, the heel slippage keeps me from running in these shoes so I can't speak from personal experience -- just comparing other trail shoes.

There is more arch support in these shoes than in other minimal-type shoes I own, so that took some getting used to. It wasn't uncomfortable -- just different.

I liked these shoes enough to order a second pair, but felt as if the heel slip and short laces were enough to take a star away.

I usually love Merrell shoes so I bought a pair of these in my normal running shoe size 8 as most people thought they fit true to size. When they arrived I was happy to see that the magenta is a bit more of an accent than apparent in the pictures, I thought they looked adorable and really attractive. I was excited about going for a run with them, I haven't done much zero-drop running but have a few pairs of Vibram Fivefingers that I love wearing so I figured it wouldn't be so much of a transition.

Unfortunately, I never got out of the door with them because they have a very oddly shaped last (i.e. shape) that doesn't work with my feet at all. There was more than a thumbs' width between my big toe and the front but my third and fourth toes were rubbing against the front of the shoe just while standing. I figured that would make for an extremely uncomfortable run. There was also a bit more room on the inside of my foot than I'm used to in a sneaker but the outside of my foot was rubbing against the entire length of the sole. In other words, it's as if they took a regular sneaker, cut it at the arch, and rotated the toe box inward (quite significantly imo). I have high arches but I imagine someone flatfooted would find the fit even more awkward. Overall very disappointing, especially as I've never had a problem like this with athletic shoes before and wasn't expecting to have to ship them back.

Super comfortable and very cute. I've been raving about these shoes to everyone since I bought them but today they've turned on me!! After about two weeks of use, the tread has started coming off during my workout today. Now they catch on everything making them uncomfortable and probably unwearable.

These fit exactly as do the Bare Access Arc 2's. Scads of toe room, both in width and height. Merrell's seem to be consistently sized, as I have several pairs of Bare Access Arc 2's and some Mix Master's, and I feel I can confidently order my size, knowing that when I get it, it will, in fact, be my size. Convoluted sentence, but maybe you get my point.

These shoes are light weight and arch supporting. I wear size 7.5 or 8 and bought these in an 8; they fit great. Stylish and comfortable. I will be getting a second pair in the future.
