So far I absolutely love these shoes- they fit perfectly and look a bit more normal than the 5-fingers.
I will be purchasing more of these shoes for an upcoming walking holiday, and know that I will be just as pleased.
Nothing to complain about, the shoe fits, is comfortable, satisfies the minimalist requirement and is pretty cute too.

If you love running in Merrell's older barefoot/minimalist shoes (dash/pace glove) and intend to use these as a replacement, you may be sorely disappointed. It's decent for everyday "walkin' around". But I am rating this shoe based on it being a minimalist trail running shoe.

    Cons:

-The shoe runs slightly larger overall than the older version, but not enough to change your Merrell size. If you loved the glove fit of old, it will feel like you are swimming in these.

-The heel cup. It's slippery. Might as well have put on a regular/everyday pair of shoes. With or without socks it doesn't matter. It rubs at the top.

    - The shoe just feels cheaper in quality (sole excluded). The area inside the shoe where the tongue connects at the top is ridged.

    Pros:

-The toebox and arc area is slightly wider. Provides better "standing stability" and allows for slighter greater toe splay.

    - Added extra upper eyelets for using the loop tying method.

-The purple color is great (the dark highlights are more of a charcoal than true black)

Overall, the shoe works well to walk around in. And sure, they'll work for running, they're shoes. But if you are looking for that old Merrell feel, these are not it. My impression is that they changed the shoe to cater to the more casual walker/runner that has never been in one of their minimalist shoes before. For newcomers I can see this shoe being a revelation, just like my first pair a couple years ago. However, for running or anyone that loves the original glove fit, this new shoe is a big disappointing step in the wrong direction.

I've been a maniacal original Pace Glove fan since its debut (it was the shoe that "saved" me from traditional running shoes and all the aches and pains that accompany them.) I ran many half marathons and a full marathon in the original Pace Glove (all on pavement) and never had anything but wonderful experiences with them.

I was devastated (no exaggeration) to learn that the original Pace Gloves had been replaced, and was very hesitant to try the new version. I took my first run tonight and here are my initial thoughts (at least if you were an original Pace Glove fan as I am):

1)The Pace Glove 2 seems to be much stiffer through the midsection and less flexible. I'm hoping I can break them in to where they feel more glove-like and less shoe-like.

    2) They seem longer and do not fit as snugly as the original.

    3) The arch area seems to be misplaced... the built-up area which is suppose to be around the arch actually hits the padding of my forefoot. This is annoying and I'm not sure how it will affect me on a long run.

    4) I'm not sure if the soles have changed but they also seem "off" around the forefoot area.

I really wanted to love this shoe. I'm hoping this review isn't premature but, so far, I am really sad the original is gone.

    UPDATE(several long runs later:)

Now that I've had an ample "break-in" period, I feel better about the shoe. The weird arch placement and squishy padding discomfort went away after the first two runs. Now, while running, I can't tell much of a difference between the new version and the original; however, when walking in the shoe it feels much looser and much less glove-like. I prefer the glove-like fit. All in all, I will continue to buy this shoe and not look for another brand to replace it.

I have two pairs of the old Pace Glove, and those fit me perfectly. While the changes made in the Pace Glove 2 are mostly cosmetic, there are a few things I wish they hadn't changed. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't ruin the shoe, it just makes it... different. The sizing runs about half a size larger than the previous version - but I think this is true of all recent Merrells. This could be due to the larger toe box. I also do not wear socks (gasp!) and the inside is actually smoother overall to me; however, in the footbed it almost gets slippery in the new design. Finally, I think they exchanged the subtle elastic in the Pace Glove for just a narrower heel. I kind of miss the way the old shoe shaped to my heel, but I haven't experienced any blisters or anything. Overall, I would probably buy the Pace Glove 2 again; as I want to support Merrell to continue their involvement in the minimalist shoe movement.

Beautiful color! Love the shoe but wish I ordered a half size down. Definitely a lot of extra toe room!

I had the previous version of these shoes (Pace Glove), and I was worried that the lack of elastic in the heel of these would make them even harder to get on and possibly rub/cause blisters. However, all my concerns were for naught. These are much EASIER to get on than the old model due to added elastic in the tongue. They are at least as comfortable, and might even have a bit more toe room. I love them!

Note: I do not run, I use these for walking and hiking.

Bought these to train in for an upcoming half marathon and I have one thing to say; I don't look forward to my runs in these shoes. I miss the original pace glove, of which I owned three pairs. This one is designed for a completely different foot (not mine). The arch comes up under the ball of my big toe (really!) which gets really sore after about 5 miles. Despite the excess forward set, it's not particularly high under my *arch* (which the last ones did very well). The sole is much stiffer, so my foot doesn't flex nearly as well as it did in my old ones, and I've been trying to give them a chance to break in, in case this is a newness issue. The heel is longer, but I don't have the trouble some do with it slipping and blistering. There is more room in the toe box, which I am adjusting to. Overall, it feels much more like a traditional sneaker than the original barefoot runners did. I will be looking for a new brand/model or just hoping they bring back the design of the original Pace Glove.
