The jacket doesn't have a heavy lining and isn't insulated; which is hard to tell from the pictures and the description.

It fits over big sweaters and even over my suit jacket without looking bulky.

I have a whole closetful of jackets, including several rain jackets, soft shells, and puffy coats - even a few pea coats. So it's saying something that the Miette has become my go-to jacket for wearing around Seattle when I want to look a little more "put together." It fits over big sweaters and even over my suit jacket without looking bulky. I like the slimming effect of the belted waist, though the belt can be removed if you don't want/need it. Hood is also removable.

I have worn the Miette on many breezy and drizzling days and stayed warm and dry throughout. It is fully lined and feels very well made. I often just use the big brass buttons (easy to do even with gloves on) and don't bother with the zipper. LOVE it!

Purchased for my wife; she loves it. A trim fit and stylish look, very good for rain, and much warmer than such a lightweight, unbulky coat would be expected to be. A better price point would have been nice, but . . . .

I finally found the raincoat that meets my needs and my expectations. So many coats l tried looked ok when I was just standing there, but when I drove, seemed too restrictive in the shoulders or somewhere else. For me, this coat is roomy without looking baggy. The belt is removable if you don't want to deal with it, but it does help give the coat some shape. (It is held on by two buttons in the back, which is a cute detail, and there are no belt loops. So, if you remove the belt there aren't empty belt loops sticking out.) I like that this coat doesn't have some big metal plate or white writing on it anywhere announcing its brand name, like so many others did. That helps dress the coat up some and I think this is nice enough to wear for any more dressed-up occasions I might have.

Fit is a little snug, but otherwise it is a great coat. I love the color. It is sharp looking and does the job.

I have been having a heck of a time finding a coat that was 1) waterproof 2)well-shaped and sized and 3) has buttons/snaps and a hood.

You don't always want to deal with a zipper if, like me, this is your go-to spring/fall coat - frequently I just want to close it somewhere in the middle to add shape and keep it from flying away behind while walking. So many similar coats have no alternate closure, so you are stuck dealing with a zipper that starts down by your knees.

The texture of the fabric elevates the look of the coat above a standard raincoat, although it is still a bit noisy and swishy (hard to avoid with this type of waterproof fabric). The pockets are well-placed and functional, and the slash-pockets are lined with a warm absorbent material. The hood fits well. I will never remove it, but it is removeable. The coat is light, but provides a nice bit of warmth that even in summer will be welcome when I am commuting on an over air-conditioned bus.

The large fits well - I am 5'4, 150 lbs and busty. It skims my figure in a very flattering way, but there is room to move. I could wear a thin-medium sweater layer underneath if desired. Length is to the knee, sleeves are a tiny bit long. I do not use the belt, but tie it behind. The cut of the coat provides the shaping.

The workmanship seems solid. I hope so, because I would like this coat to last forever. I have been struggling with a Patagonia Arborist Coat, which barely fits me in a medium (strangely, fine on top but tight through waist and hip), but is cavernous in a large.

This is a really nice *looking* coat - good length, trim fit and I love that it has a hood. The color is nice and the pockets are functional. But the coat is an absolute failure in terms of waterproofness - it simply isn't. I've worn it for almost a year and every time I've been in anything more than a drizzle, the shoulders and sleeves (around the elbows) completely leak through. Given that this is advertised as waterproof (with waterproof taped seams), it is a real disappointment, particularly given the price point. I'm definitely sending this back and would be wary about trusting Merrell in the future.
