5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes!
Extremely comfortable shoes! I wear them to work with Khaki's, and being on my feet for 8 hours...they are perfect.

I have worn my other Merrell Siren MidLeather boots...every day since last May! To work, in the woods...everywhere.

These seemed to run a little small though. My other Merrell's are 9's and in these I bought a 10.

3.0 out of 5 stars waterproof-- not
I bought these shoes a few weeks ago for hikes up an easy mile trail on an unused logging road. Oregon rain keeps things moist, and for the first 10 hikes, they seemed to keep my feet dry. On really wet days, I wear my keen w/p boots. It was not raining, and it hadn't rained for at least 12 hours, and the hike lasted only an hour. . . so today I wore the Merrells, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars I love them, April 13, 2009
I love these shoes. I have to be honest and say that I can be one of the pickiest people to shop for shoes with. This has been especially difficult because I am planning on going on a backpacking trip through Europe and could not find shoes that provided the versatility and comfort I wanted without looking too much like tennis shoes or hiking shoes. I saw these at a store and knew that they had the right look. What really won me over though was their comfort. They are probably some of the most comfortable shoes that I have worn. After wearing them (of course this did not include any blisters whatsoever) I would say that I will wear these every day leading up to my trip because are perfect.

Definitely recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great walking shoes, August 28, 2009

I have great difficulty with shoes because I need a wide toe box. I have a pet sitting business and walk a LOT and these shoes have kept my feet and legs comfortable. I'm currently buying my second pair before they discontinue the style.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful shoes!, March 31, 2010

This shoe is fantastic. My feet are comfortable and dry. I know many people said they ordered a size larger, but I didn't and found it very true to size. With the gortex lining there is no need to break them in; an instant comfortable fit! This shoe is great for casual wear and/or a long walk in the woods.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfy, keeps water out, April 23, 2011
This covers all I really ask of a good winter or hiking shoe. It keeps my feet comfy and dry.

Definitely not the sexiest looking shoe out there. I wish they had it in the coral color the waterproof siren comes in. We just had a sales rep tell us that Gore-Tex is higher line than simply waterproof, plus this one was less moolah . . . so cute as the coral was, it wasn't worth spending more money for a less efficient product. I'm no dumby.

In looking over the other 4star reviews I have to say -- I didn't need to go up 1/2 a size. Mine fit just right in my regular old size 10.

This review is from: Merrell Women's Siren Sport Gore (Shoes)
These shoes are great if you have any sort of peripheral neuropathy because they are hard soled and keep your foot dry in the rain.

They arent the greatest looking shoes, but they are really comfortable! My feet swelled up in the desert while hiking, so I might have wanted to get 1/2 size bigger.

5.0 out of 5 stars NO more wet feet, August 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love these shoes. They are very light and fit wonderfully. They took me a couple days to get used to how light they are. They are different than any other 'sneakers' I ever had. I called and asked Merrell what the differences was between the 'waterproof ' ones and the 'GORE-TEX'(which are also waterproof) ones are. I was told that the GoreTex is a brandname and costs a bit more so Merrell has made their own waterproof material to use. BUT I was also told by Merrell, the Merrell waterproof ones don't vent as well as the GORE-TEX does. Get the GORE-TEX! I wear these every morning in high WET grass with my dogs , for over 2 hours. MY feet stay dry. Here is a hint on how to make sure they stay waterproof. The outside will get wet , but not go into your socks area. They take awhile to dry. Make sure they are completely DRY before using them in wet again. I put them on top of the water heater, works great to completely dry them. .
I actually purchased another pair so when these finally wear out (which will be a long time from now, they are well made) I will have another pair to use. Some reviewers said to buy a larger size, I bought my regular size, they fit fine. Also the tongue did rub just a couple of times the 2nd or 3rd time I wore them, but it went right away and molded to my foot. I have now started alternating the two pairs so I know they are completely dry when I start out in the morning. Sometimes if they are damp on the outside overnight (if I forget to put them on the heater after a really wet day) they will let a sllight bit of dampness in after about 1.5 hrs of use. It has never happened when they started out DRY.. even after 8 hrs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!, June 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased these for a trip to Belize where I would be doing lots of hiking during the wet season. They were so perfect! I would highly recommend these shoes. Now, I even wear them like tennis shoes around town because they are so comfortable and supportive.

3.0 out of 5 stars waterproof-- not, May 10, 2011
I bought these shoes a few weeks ago for hikes up an easy mile trail on an unused logging road. Oregon rain keeps things moist, and for the first 10 hikes, they seemed to keep my feet dry. On really wet days, I wear my keen w/p boots. It was not raining, and it hadn't rained for at least 12 hours, and the hike lasted only an hour. . . so today I wore the Merrells, and one foot got really wet, and the other mildly so. I'm very disappointed. I wonder if the tongue design, which makes troughs on both sides that run down towards the toe, could be carrying water down into the shoe. The whole front of the shoe was thoroughly soggy.

On the flip side, I do like the fit (true size worked for me) and the look. They are very very comfortable, and have a lot of give for different weight socks.
