I have traveled to 25 countries and always take this with me. It is very compact and light. It holds up well when traveling sometimes in the worst of conditions. Most of the maps are two pages and they fold together nicely. Bottom line if you go traveling take something like this with you. It is a great conversation starter and you can easily show people where you live in relation to them.

For the price of a magazine that will be thrown away a month later, you can get this basic but good little atlas that will prove useful for years to come. It's lightweight and paperback and printed on matte paper, and is about as thick as a small magazine. It's way more detailed than the dumbed-down school atlases I had in school which were a joke - this one actually has a decent level of detail (not like a full-size atlas, but surprisingly good for $5). It shows more cities than any world wall map I've seen, even the largest ones. Each map has the legend on the page - unlike some atlases where you have to constantly flip back to the legend page. It has an index as well as a bit of additional information about each country. 2 small complaints: the countries are shaded in somewhat dark colors, making the text a bit hard to read, and the page margins are large...they could've made the maps larger if the 4 edges of each page didn't have such large white borders.

Even if you're not a student, or into geography or travel, this could easily be the most useful $5 you'll ever spend.

i was glad to be able to purchase the notebook atlas from amzon because i could not find it in a store where i live thank you much.
