1.0 out of 5 stars Not Set Up Well
For whatever reason, this book is not user friendly. When looking up a word, the book will refer you to ANOTHER WORD.....I don't understand the style this dictionary has. It is USELESS and lacking definitions for TONS OF WORDS.

STICK TO YOUR OLD DICTIONARY. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.

With more than 100,000 entries providing authoritative definitions, spellings, and pronounciations, more than 1,000 clear illustrations and tables, and over 15,000 useage examples, the Merriam-Webster' School Dictionary is a crystal clear, easy-to-use resource that presents solid information without relying on excessively small font size to strain young eyes. Also very solidly recommended is the Merriam-Webster's Intermediate Dictionary (0877795797, $17.95) for middle school students in grades 5 to 8.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST!, March 24, 2000
By
My students and I constantly go through the dictionary finding possible and impossible words and this dictionary has been the one to always have the information we need in a way that we were able to understand (It also hard for the teacher sometimes). Many times when you use a dictionary the definition is stated in words that you have to lookup again anyway. This is the one you and your children will always be able to understand quickly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Had it for 5 days... Very good!, December 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This dictionary has come in handy for the 5 days I had it. My son (7th grade) had winter homework to do and when he presented it to me, he had "Unscrupulous- not scrupulous" and I almost lost my marbles! Of course he couldn't tell me what being "Not scrupulous" was. I had him look up the word "Scrupulous" in this dictionary and not only did he find it, he found a meaning that he could understand.

So far so good! He absolutely loves it because it's hard copy and more durable than his paperback one that fell to shreds after 1 year. However, kids can be rough page turners and the paper is thin. Just have them be careful and this book will last a while!

The seller delivered this book as promised and in great condition. There was little wear and tear and the pages are crisp. Thanks.
