All Basics,
By Mojorisin (Mobile, Al USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Merrill's Pocket Guide to Radiography, 6e (Spiral-bound)
If you are a student you may find this OK....but it is alittle bulky to be in your pocket and the pages are very thin so it's not very durable. I was hoping that since it was a pocket guide it would have the less common positions that we rarely shoot and therefore may need alittle help remembering....but alas...the first time I whipped it out of my backpack thinking it would save face it didn't have the position I was looking for. So if you want a guide of the basics this will keep you from making out those notecards I see students glancing at...but if you've been at it a while and are more interested in special views, I really can't recommend it.

Great little book to keep by my side but i wish the pages were laminated or at least where the pages meet the spiral because they are so thin and seem likely to rip at any time.

Merrill's Pocket Guide,

A great little book. It has pictures of positions (and radiographs to match), and charts to fill in your own information.

Even though our Proffessor wanted us to us the Bontrager Pocket book, I still invested in the Merrills version.. It is just so much better. Not only is ther positioning information, but on each is a good representation of a good quality exposure. Most student budgets are tight.. but the money spent on this item is well worth it. It is worth noting that it is much cheaper on Amazon than on campus.

X-ray Tech's Best Friend,

This pocket sized Merrill's is great. I work at temporary assignments and find it very helpful when special views outside the routine are requested.

Okay people, listen up...I had the Bontrager pocket guide in x-ray school and for about a year after I graduated. I lost that book and then tried this one. I LOVE it compared to the other one. The set up on each page is simpler to look at and comprehend on the fly. If given the choice, I would get this again over Bontrager. I have been a tech for over 5 years now but I use this book for the exams I don't do very often, like skull work. It is really helpful and easy to access the page you need from the tabs.

Pros: The information within the guide is pretty thorough and the pictures are very helpful.
Cons: It's a little big to be considered a pocket guide.

The best thing about this pocket manual is that you get to see what you are suppose to see as an x-ray, so if you pull it out of your side pocket it gives you a quick reference of the proper x-ray
