5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent comprehensive textbook
We are a new program and this atlas was recommended to us highly. We have used it for two semesters and it is not only a beautiful book, but one that the students find easy to use. The radiographs and all other illustrations are the best of all the books we reviewed. We especially like the summary tables of projections, the technique charts, and the anatomy summaries...

This is a three volume edition. Each volume is a large and heavy book. Each volume is incomplete by itself. When I ordered, I only got the second volume. Pictures are black and white and not very sharp.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent comprehensive textbook, August 18, 2005
This review is from: Merrill's Atlas of Radiographic Positions & Radiologic Procedures, 3-Volume Set (Hardcover)
We are a new program and this atlas was recommended to us highly. We have used it for two semesters and it is not only a beautiful book, but one that the students find easy to use. The radiographs and all other illustrations are the best of all the books we reviewed. We especially like the summary tables of projections, the technique charts, and the anatomy summaries. We like to point out to students that they should be familiar with many of the projections in the text that are not essential since they often are ordered by physicians. Volume 3 is superb with specialty chapters. We use this volume instead of purchasing a specials type book. The surgery and geriatrics chapters are especially good for our students. We like the CT and cross-sectional also because our students need to know CT in many of their clinical sites. The accompanying workbook is very well done also. Our students like the pocket guide that is available because it contains a radiograph and a place to write their AEC techniques. We think the atlas is a steal because we can use it for five different courses in our new program. Our only complaint is that the pages are very shiney and reflect light. MB

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Textbook, August 15, 1999
By A Customer
It is easy to see why this textbook has made it to its 50th anniversary edition. The authors have introduced all the latest techniques, including computed radiography. The color throughout is wonderful. This is not only a great student textbook, but a great book for reference purposes. We continue to use this book for 5 different courses in our program and we continue to love it. Thanks for the color !

5.0 out of 5 stars IMPRESSIVE!, March 5, 2000
By A Customer
We began using this text this fall and have been very impressed with the quality of the anataomy sections and the radiographs are all excellent. The color makes it much easier to learn radiography. It is also very comprehensive. Students can learn many projections and not just the basics. We especially like the Mobile chapter which is very practical and accurate in its approach. The Workbook by Hayes which accompanies the Atlas is also excellent. We can use the 3-volumes for 7 different courses in our school and that makes this text a bargain overall. Our students also began using the accompanying Pocket Guide which they much prefer over the one they were using previously because of the AEC write-in ability. This whole package is excellent for radiography students.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Student and Radiologic Technologist Atlas, August 1, 1999
By A Customer
Volume 2 of 3 volumes. Wonderful new volume in full color. The addition of color to the chapters that describe abdominal organs makes it much easier to related to and understand the anatomy. Excellent radiographs throughout. The addition of Summary boxes for projections, anatomy, and joints is welcomed. A MUST volume for any student learning radiography (buy the 3 volume set for significant savings). A new chapter on venipuncture by the country's leading expert on the topic. Outdated skull projections have been deleted (thanks!). An excellent updated chapter on mammograpny describes all the ACR projections and the only text to describe male views complete with photos. Edited for easier reading and comprehension. An impressive text written by two of the country's expert radiographers.

Wonderful new edition in full color. Excellent anatomical art and the best collection of radiographs in any text. A MUST for any student learning radiography. New orthopedic projections are described and the only textbook updated with computed radiography (CR)comments for projections. Excellent new chapters on CR, mobile radiography (including neonatal views), bone densitometry (meets new ASRT standards), and venipuncture written by the country's expert on the topic. Complete ACR updated mammography chapter which even includes male views. Volume 3 chapters are updated by experts in each subject. Edited for easier reading and comprehension. An impressive text written by two of the countries expert radiographers. Every student should own one and every department should have one for reference. IMPRESSIVE !

AS A FRENCH RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST, I WANT YOU TO FORGIVE MY ENGLISH, BUT BOTH THE ATLAS AND GUIDES ARE NECESSARY FOR ANY RADIOLOGIC SERVICE. IT'S A REFERENCE, AND EVEN IF YOU CAN'T READ ENGLISH PERFECTLY YOU CAN REFER TO THEM (ANATOMIC DESCRIPTION, PHOTOGRAPHY OF RADIOLOGIC POSITION AND RESULTS WITH COMMENTARY). MY GUIDE IS IN THE ROOM WHERE I'M WORKINK EVERY MINUTE, BECAUSE IT CONTENTS NOW ALL INFORMATIONS NEEDED AND ADAPTED FOR EACH POSITION AND EACH X-RAY TUBE. THEY HAVE TO BE IN EVERY SCHOOL. WAITING FOR THE FRENCH VERSION AND AN INTERACTIVE CDROM.
