Every good artist has at least one Christmas song that became inseparable from the holiday like tree ornaments,eggnog,and misteltoe.Over the years ,Charles Brown recorded and re-recorded his standards numerous times.While contracted to Jewel in the late 6o's and early 70's,he became the anchor for an album named after his biggest hit and featuring many of the label's other artists.This CD ,an "Absolutely the Best",baker's dozen of those tunes digitally remastered and complied to flow thoughout the R&B spectrum reflecting brightest toward the blues.An elfish ear will find many a gem within, which never receive any perennial airplay.Merrily Mix tracks 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13.Post Script:Lowell Fulson's "Lonesome Christmas Parts 1&2" bonus accounts for 13 tracks.Thanks to all involved in the digital reissue. CHRISTMAS IS NOT CHRISTMAS WITHOUT CHARLES BROWNS X-MAS MUSIC.WONDERFUL SUPERB. I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYONE SING THESE SONGS AS GOOD AS CHARLES. CHRISTMAS IS NOT THE SAME OR COMPLETE WITHOUT CHARLES BROWN RECORDINGS..... |
