4.0 out of 5 stars A Family Classic, October 31, 2000
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
I grew up listening to this album every Christmas, and I can't imagine the holidays without it! If you like good old guitar and vocals with harmony, this is a great album to add to your holiday collection. Perfect for those evenings in front of the fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have a merry Christmas with The Brothers Four, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
This was originally released on LP in 1966 when The Brothers Four topped best-seller charts. This CD album is newly remastered and is a wonderful collection of mostly tranditional carols with fresh arrangements and soothing harmonies. There are two carols in this collection that are not well-known. I enjoyed the Latin flavor of "The Night is Christmas Eve" and the folk style of "The Borning Day" which is based on a West Indian carol. The Brothers Four (former fraternity brothers) have warm voices that create a beautiful blend for these carols.

5.0 out of 5 stars Find this if you can, March 9, 2010
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
This album shows up for sale every once in a while; get it if you can. The Brothers Four have some of the smoothest sounding vocals you can find and they are a great part of the folk scene heritage. This record is probably one of the best Christmas albums from that genre and the harmonies of these four should be enjoyed for a long time to come.

4.0 out of 5 stars Soothing music with great harmonies, January 4, 2010
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
I bought this CD on an impulse. I had really never heard of the Brothers Four, but I have a respect for them after hearing this album. My favorite cuts are Mary's Boy Child, The Night Before Christmas, The Little Drummer Boy, Christmas is a-Comin', The Bourning Day, Silent Night and the Medley at the end. Very good harmonies with a simple guitar arrangement. I had never heard The Bourning Day or The Night is Christmas Eve. I've only heard Bing Crosby sing Christmas is a-Comin'. Nice songs that you don't hear that often during the holidays.

The liner notes say that these guys went to Vietnam to entertain the troops during the holidays. I give them more respect for doing that, and I think this CD is something nice to listen to.
