A lovely Christmas album, January 2, 2001
This review is from: Merry Christmas From London (Audio CD)
This has everything that a Christmas album should have. Beautiful arrangements of traditional Christmas favourites. Lorrie is joined by The New World Philharmonic orchestra and Singers. She also sings duets with Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams and Tammy Wynette. Every song on here is a treasure, to be enjoyed every holiday season. One thing though, that doesn't take away from the beauty of the album, but is a bit deceiving, and that is that Lorrie was not in London to record this. The Orchestra and choir were recorded in London, but all vocals were recorded in Nashville, Tennessee.

Lovely album with great guests, November 30, 2005
This review is from: Merry Christmas From London (Audio CD)
Lorrie recorded this album with a London orchestra as backing musicians, so whatever else this album is, it ain't country. Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams and Tammy Wynette all make guest appearances, though you could easily miss Tammy's contribution if you don't listen closely. Lorrie didn't need all those guests to make a wonderful album, but their willingness to be guests demonstrates their respect for her. The set opens with a rendition of My favorite things, which did not originate as a Christmas song but has become an occasional feature of Christmas albums. Lorrie then sings a delightful medley of Christmas classics, mixing up carols and festive songs. It begins with Joy to the world, followed by Deck the halls, God rest ye merry gentlemen, Hark the herald angels sing, The first noel (with Tammy), Silent night, Jingle bells, ending with O come all ye faithful. The remainder of the album mainly concentrates on festive songs although Lorrie also includes fine versions of O holy night. Little snow girl (with Andy), Up on Santa Claus mountain, Let it snow, Blue snowfall (with Johnny), Toyland and Sleigh ride are all great songs that should bring you plenty of Christmas cheer. This is a brilliant Christmas album with a great selection of songs - plenty of standards but not too many obvious ones. It should therefore please you whether you only buy the occasional album or whether (like me) you have loads of them.

Beautiful Memories Of Christmases Of Yesteryear, November 9, 2009
This review is from: Merry Christmas From London (Audio CD)
This is a real beautiful christmas cd, one that brings back the christmas sounds and memories of christmas recordings from yesteryear (1950's - 1960's). LORRIE MORGAN'S voice is in perfect form here and she sings these songs as beautiful as the best of the female singers of any era. Couple this with an absolute fantastic orchestra backing and two choruses (I believe), an adult chorus and a kid's chorus (both as great as they have ever come), and you have a complete professional christmas sound. TOYLAND is easily my personal favorite song on here and it is my favorite version ever recorded. The children's chorus is just perfect on this song. UP ON SANTA CLAUS MOUNTAIN is another great highlight song on this cd that uses the children's chorus once again with amazing results. MY FAVORITE THINGS is also a standout. One of the best versions if not the best of the song ever recorded. And every other song is are superb, like something recorded back in the heydey of christmas music from those long ago decades (195's - 1960's) mentioned earlier in this review. A 100% recommended christmas cd for fans of true and timeless christmas music.
