5.0 out of 5 stars Gordon takes you on a holiday ride.
Scott Gordon's "Merry Christmas" is a fresh new emtional ride of many holiday classics. Excellent musicianship and a 5 star to the string and vocal arrangement on the track" I wish it was Christmas everyday"

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for your Christmas Music collection!, November 25, 2007
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
If you love Christmas music and are looking for a new treasure for your collection, treat yourself (or even friends and family) to Scott Gordon's 'Merry Christmas'. What sets this assemblage apart from the rest of the pack is his inventive arrangements and colorful orchestrations. Whether it's the familiar fair such as 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' and 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' for solo piano, to the interpretive sonic explorations of 'O Holy Nights', and 'Angels We Have Heard on High', these songs take on a refreshing spin yet remain true to the spirit of the season. If you like discovering a few new Christmas songs, Scott Gordon has it covered too. His pop arrangement for 'I Wish it was Like Christmas Everyday' is a charming and joyful, while 'Blues for Rudolph' brings chordal excitement to a piano blues progression. This array of gems will easily be a favorite for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scott Gordon brings new life to Christmas music !, October 18, 2007
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
Scott Gordon is so blessed with talent. His music is an expression of his passion and love of music. This Christmas cd was a must for me because I know I was guaranteed the sound that only Scott can produce. There is no other pianist that compares to his style that is strictly Scott. It is a pleasure for me to hear and share.

This is a wonderful album...familiar, yet different enough not to be at all routine. I give it as a gift whenever I can, and all my friends enjoy it, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Merry Christmas, January 17, 2004
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
Every year at Thanksgiving time, I bring out my old favorite Christmas music to get the house in the mood. Now finally, I have a new, modern version of the good old tunes that still gives the traditional spirit. "Merry Christmas" by Scott Gordon is one of my CD's to come out every year and join the custom.
The music from start to finish brings on the holiday cheer and is long enough to get the tree decorated. A great CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Talented, witty, and a great deal of technique., January 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
This artist is very talented. His arrrangements are witty, even quirky, as they reach out in unexpected directions. The tracks of just him playing, without synth sounds added, are best. He underestimates the power of himself with the piano alone.

3.0 out of 5 stars David Nathan - All Music Guide, January 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Merry Christmas (Audio CD)
Pianist Scott Gordon is joined by some friends and the Nightingale Children's Choir for an album of traditional and commercial music dedicated to celebrating the Christmas season. Some tracks have just Gordon playing with his stylish piano technique. The most ear-catching of these is a jazzy "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and a bouncy "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." These tunes sound like Bill Evans might have played them if Evans played Christmas music. The simplicity of these renderings is contrasted with a string-backed version of Claude Thornhill's signature song, the lovely, enchanting "Snowfall."
Thornhill, who used to play this tune with one finger, might be taken aback by the production piece it becomes here. Electronically created chimes are brought into play for the "must" piece for most Christmas albums, "Silent Night."
There's also a Leroy Anderson-like orchestration of "Attention Shoppers." It's just hard to tell how much of it is generated by Gordon's friends and how much by some computerized gizmo. A jaunty, close to down-and-dirty "Winter Wonderland" is one of the more light and entertaining cuts on this CD. All in all, this recorded nod to Christmas is a mixed bag. Some tracks are quite fresh and entertaining.
