If you like George Strait, you will like this CD. As a previous reviewer mentioned, a few of the songs are bit slow and sound kind of wooden. Luckily its only a few songs and the rest have that Texas Swing sound that George is known for. "Merry Christmas Strait to You" is the best song on the CD.

George Strait has one of the best christmas albums around.
I would definetely reccomend it to anyone.

Strait's version of "White Christmas" is one of his few true clinkers ever, but it's the new songs here that make this disc worthwhile: "For Christ's Sake it's Christmas", the title track, "Texas Christmas" and "New Kid in Town" are terrific. Some day he should combine the best of this disc and his newer "Merry Christmas Whereever You Are" into one album.

Has several good songs on it, but honestly I was hoping for more from King George.

George's style has changed a little over the years, although not as dramatically as some singers of comparative longevity. Nevertheless, I particularly like his eighties music and this, George's first Christmas album, is in the style that was typical of George's music during that decade.

George ultimately decided on five familiar standards and five original songs, which are presented alternately. All the standards have been recorded countless times, but if enjoy George's music, especially his eighties music, you'll love his renditions of White Christmas, Winter wonderland, Away in a manger, Frosty the snowman and Santa Claus is coming to town.

Of the original songs (at least I think they were all original when George recorded them), perhaps my favorites are the title track and the bright, upbeat When it's Christmas time in Texas. However, the song that may be most familiar among the originals may be There's a new kid in town. Not to be confused with a famous Eagles hit with a slightly shorter title, this excellent song has been covered by other singers including Kathy Mattea (on her Christmas album Good news) and Trisha Year wood (on her Christmas album Sweetest gift). Two other fine originals (For Christ's sake it's Christmas, What a merry Christmas this could be) complete an outstanding album that mixes traditional country with a dash of western swing as only George Strait knows how.

This will definitely appeal to fans of traditional country music looking for a Christmas album that mixes originals and familiar songs. Will it appeal to a pop audience? I hope so but I rather doubt it. Still, there are plenty of other Christmas albums out there, including some by country singers, that cater for their needs.

I remember listening to this CD (well it was a tape then) all the time growing up! Now that I am trying to build up my own Christmas collection, this is one of the first that I looked for! George Strait is at his best, with Christmas favorites as well as several original songs. My favorites are "When it's Christmastime in Texas," "Merry Christmas Strait to You," and "There's a New Kid in Town." This is a must-buy for any George Strait fan!!

If you enjoy Christmas music, this is as good as it gets!! If you are a George Stait fan, you won't be let down. The mix of new and classic songs makes for an hour of enjoyable, "gather-around-the-fire" music. From melancholy "Merry Christmas Wherever You Are" to "Santa's On His Way", this album is a perfect addition to your Christmas collection. I highly recommend "Merry Christmas Strait To You"!!

This is a great CD. A lot of artists will change the beat or other parts of these classic Christmas songs but George Strait leaves them alone which makes this a great CD for Christmas.

I remember having this album on tape when I was young. I looked everywhere to find it in stores and failed, but was thrilled to find it here and for so cheap. Great mix of classic christmas songs with a real country sound and originals. I absolutely love this Christmas album and it just isn't Christmas without it!! Christmas time in Texas is also one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time!! Can't beat this CD if you are a country fan at all.

I have been listening to this CD with my kids at Christmas since they were small. Couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks Amazon.
