Book Description

February 6, 2001
Joined together hand in hand our circle gathers round, to work our magic, weave the web, and dance on sacred ground. By the goddess we are called, witch to witch and friend to friend, to merry meet, and merry part, and merry meet again.

A book of spells brought Kate, Cooper, and Annie together. The three are coompelled to learn more, and the door is opened with the stirring ritual of the Vernal Equinox.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6 Up-In Mote, Kate is an Everyteen who struggles between wanting to be a part of the crowd and marching to her own drummer. Researching the topic of witchcraft in the 16th century for her history paper, she stumbles on a modern book of spells. Because she's been mooning over a boy, she tries to cast the "Come to Me Love" spell. When the results do not play out as she planned, she forms a tentative friendship with two other girls who had also checked out the book: Annie, a bookish, quiet girl, and Cooper, a fearless rebel and loner. As these three come together, Kate begins her real journey toward self-realization, which takes her farther away from popularity. Merry Meet has the trio growing closer and discovering witchcraft as a viable religion. Once again, Kate leads readers slowly along with her and her friends into the world of Wicca. This series is not unlike Silver Ravenwolf's "Witches Chillers" (Llewellyn), but Bird's titles are perhaps a bit more pedestrian. Hers are for burgeoning witches, while Ravenwolf's series is for intermediates. The pace of the stories moves well and characters ring true to life. Bird has had many years of involvement in witchcraft and paganism, and her representation here will whet the appetites of teens interested in the subject. Readers looking for a quick read with a supernatural tone will surely enjoy these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better then the first, September 1, 2001
This review is from: Merry Meet (Circle of Three# 2) (Paperback)
I've now read three 'Circle of Three.' books, and this is definetly the best so far, told from the point of view of my favourite character, Kate. As Kate, Annie and Cooper begin to learn more about Wicca and start going to a Wicca class to learn more about it, they meet a mysterious girl called Sasha and Kate and Scott begin having problems.

So much happens in this book but somehow it never seems rushed, and the information about Wicca is fasinating. The ending is a cliffhanger, but its all explained in the next book. I can't wait to read #4, but its not coming out here until October. :(
However, I can definetly say Circle of Three is a brilliant series and now one of my favourites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good second book to the series, February 19, 2001
This review is from: Merry Meet (Circle of Three# 2) (Paperback)
Kate's facination with wicca takes a new turn in this book. As she continues to stuggle with her wish weather to be a witch or not she keeps on finding herself drawn to the craft. After attending a ritual for a Wiccan holiday, Kate meets two very important people. Sasha, another blessed wanna be who uses wicca for more as a way to get what she wants. And Tyler a mysterious male witch who's she finds herself attracted to even though she still is going out with Scott. Is Sasha really who she says she is? Should she go out with Tyler or Scott. Read this book you won't be dissapointed.

I loved this book mostly becasue the witches in this book were MORE real than ones you see on TV. There's not giant balls of flashing light or creating earthquakes with anger. There's just simple spells, and a real good introduction to wicca. It's really a facinating relgion. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. THe next one ("witch" I am half way through right now) is called Second sight and unlike the first too, it houses Copper as the main charecter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pick this book up now!, February 11, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Merry Meet (Circle of Three# 2) (Paperback)
I found the first three books in this series at the bookstore on Friday night when I was looking for something cool to read this weekend. I haven't put them down! I LOVE supernatural, fantasy, and horror books, and these looked like something I could get into. I was really surprised when I read the first one and found out that they're about REAL witches and witchcraft. While there's some fantasy stuff in here, too, mainly they're about these three really interesting girls who discover what magic is really all about. This one, MERRY MEET, is my fave so far. I love the romance between Kate and Tyler, and I love how she has to choose between two guys. This is like reading an episode of CHARMED meets POPULAR and DAWSON'S CREEK. If the first three books are this good, I can't wait for the next ones.
