XXXMas in July...,
This review is from: The Merry XXXmas Book of Erotica (Paperback)
... I mean, June.
This is a sizzling collection whether it's snowing outside or in the 90s. I snagged my copy from a friend's house, and now I know what I'm going to give all my girlfriends for Christmas! The stories are definitely kinky, and run the gamut from girl-girl to strangers in a taxi to unexpected holiday surprises. But the sure thing is that nearly all the stories will turn you on. (Yes, I liked some better than others, but I was super impressed by how many made me want to reach for my rabbit.) Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

A Beautiful Collection of Holiday Love and Lust,
By Emerald (Maryland USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Merry XXXmas Book of Erotica (Paperback)
In turns intimate, entertaining, poignant, and passionate--sometimes within the same story--this collection offers a plethora of engaging, stimulating erotic fiction centered around a Christmas theme. The characters in these stories relate to the holiday season from a variety of perspectives--anticipation, obligation, antagonism, excitement--but regardless of how they start off viewing it, the sizzling sexual encounters that await them transform their experiences of the holiday, their relationships, or even themselves. From season-changing encounters with strangers ("Rapt" by Saskia Walker, "Last-Minute Shopping" by Rachel Kramer Bussel, "Holly" by JT Langdon) to unanticipated twists between acquaintances or friends ("O Naughty Night" by Simone Harlow, "Christmas Past" by Alison Tyler) to Christmas surprises within established romantic relationships ("The Naughtiest Christmas" by Xavier Acton), I was repeatedly impressed by the creativity and originality the stories in this anthology encompass.
While the specific stories I've referenced above happen to be some of my favorites in this anthology, they are only a few examples of the many provocative, compelling, and heartfelt tales found within it. With a variety of sexual orientations, interactions (several of the stories involve varying degrees of BDSM), and configurations reminiscent of an overall celebration of sex in its numerous forms, _The Merry XXXmas Book of Erotica_ is an enchanting collection of Christmas-themed, and invariably hot, sexual escapades. I highly recommend doing what I plan to and making its perusal an annual holiday tradition.

I bought this book because I had read some fun reviews online. Several sites had talked about how sexy and inventive the stories were, but with the exceptions of one or two, they are all obvious and unsatisfying.
Some of the authors didn't seem to know that they were writing sexy stories at all. Others wrote with great detail about sex, but forgot to include characters or any kind of background. I just didn't like most of the stories and I couldn't recommend this book to anyone who really likes to read. |
