International Songs Nicely Sung in French, July 2, 2000
This review is from: Mes Plus Belles Chansons d'Amour (Audio CD)
Mireille Mathieu was one of the biggest pan European stars of the 1970s and 80s. On this disk she beautifully sings songs writtien or influenced by French, English, American, and Greek artists. She has a very strong, confident, and expressive voice.

Excellent., December 11, 2003

MM possesses an incredible voice. She can sure carry a tune with fabulous projection. MM was blessed with a seemingly perfect life. She realized her dream of becoming a singer. She is now happily married with children. This is why she should not be named Piaf's successor as she sometimes is (in fact, Piaf named DALIDA as her successor--far more fitting because of Dalida's personal traumas, altho' Dalida's voice is far different from Piaf's, whereas MM's is a bit closer). MM sings as if it is her craft. Piaf sings because it is her life and she lives those songs every time she sings them. In other words, although her voice is technically superb, sometimes MM's songs come off less than heartfelt or emotional. This does not bother me, though it may bother some. This CD made me become a fan of MM The quality of these songs is 5 stars, the quality of the disk is 4 because it is just another compilation and I hate Paul Anka's appearance on this CD. I find my favorite songs to be Sta Maria, Ma delivrance, Femme amoureuse, Je veux l'aimer, Tous les enfants.

This is not an original album, but surely it is an auditory delight, for those who loves French songs (songs sung in French). The language and Mireille's interpretation give the songs a new dimension.
