4.0 out of 5 stars Fun to Dance to Electronic Body Music, October 31, 2005
By
This review is from: Messa Da Requiem (Audio CD)
This EP was the German band, the Retrosic's, second release, and came out shortly after 9/11. Naturally some of the album was influenced by the aftermath of that day, and was designed to tell a story of sorrow and reflection. The hard-hitting track "Ground Zero" instantly became an underground club hit. All seven tracks are very dance oriented and range from hard sounding electronic body music (EBM) to slower paced ballads such as "Prevail". At times, some of the tracks sound very similar to more recent Wumpscut albums such as Wreath of Barbs, Bone Peeler, or Evoke.

Though the EP has a short run time, I actually enjoyed this more than the Retrosic's first release, Prophecy. However, their third release, God of Hell, is even better, and if you enjoy EBM or industrial music, I highly recommend checking out that album. If you like the female vocals on tracks like "Prevail" or "T.O.D." (which stands for "Taste of Death" ... the two T.O.D. tracks are remixes of a track from the first album), then you might be interested bands like In Strict Confidence or Helium Vola.

This review is from: Messa Da Requiem (Audio CD)
Aggro Goth/Industrial and Terror EBM hard hitting electronica with a dose of Dead Can Dance type world beat weirdness. Awesome little EP...sadley out of print and way too expensive for most peple...but undenialbly a killer little EP. Awesome CD by one of the darker bands in an allready dark genre of music.
