One of the Best,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Message (Animorphs , No 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of the best books in the Animorphs. It is also a crucial part of the series. I have read this book at least ten times. Cassie is my favorite Animorph, and this is the first book told from her point of view. It's generally about the Animorphs adventuring under the sea to find out whether someone is down there calling to them, but there were lots of smaller bits that I really liked.

Down in the deep blue sea...,
By Philzurfer (VA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Message (Animorphs , No 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Cassie, Jake, Rachel, Marco, and Tobias have been given the power to morph, change nto any animal they touch. They have to use this power to defeat the Yeerks, a slug-like species who wants to control the human race by taking over their brains. They have been through terrible things and have had strange dreams as a result. But when Cassie and Tobias start having the same dream about the sea, the Animorphs (the kids) decide to investigate. All of them (except for Tobias who is stuck as a hawk) morph dolphins and swim in the ocean looking for whoever sent those dreams. Is he friend or foe? "The Message" is just like all the others in the series: super thriller!

The Rescue,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Message (Animorphs , No 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
The fiction book I have read is Animorphs The Message. In this book a girl named Cassie and her friends try to save whatever is calling Cassie in her dreams from the bottom of the ocean. At first the others dont believe her but one of their friends Tobias also says he's having the same dreams. The kids morph into dolpins and go into the ocean and try to save what they think is a andilite. They incounter a life threatning battle with sharks and Marcoe gets injured so badly he almost dies. They try to finish what they started before it's to late and Visser Three finds them. I reccomend this book to a 5th or 6th grader. Also for whoever likes suspenseful action filled books. If you do like this book I inspirer you to read the whole series.

Cornwall, NY Sixth Grader,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Message (Animorphs , No 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a sixth grader. The author of the book is K.A.Applegate. The characters names are Cassie,Tobias,Jake,Rachel,Marco,Tom,and Chapman.I liked this book because it has kids who can turn into any kind of animal. It is about friendship. It is also about a mission that they have to go on.My favorite part of the book is when Cassie turns into a dolphin to get to the ocean. What I dislike about the book is that they can not tell us there last name because if they do they will be killed or be made slaves.

Cassie's acting a little fishy...,
This review is from: The Message (Animorphs , No 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
Cassie keeps having strange dreams from someone who says they need help in the ocean. At first, Cassie decided to just ignore the dreams since dreams usually never make sense. But then Cassie started to realize that something strange was going on when she found out that she wasn't the only one who was having those weird dreams. Tobias was having them too.
When they told the other Animorphs about their dreams, they all decided that the one who's calling for help must be an Andalite. But the only way to find out is to morph water-breathing animals and search the ocean. So they aquire a dolphin's DNA and morph dolphins. But there's a problem. Visser Three and other controlled creatures are going to be searching the ocean. Will the kids be able to find the Andalite and make it out of the ocean alive--or will the ocean be their graves? THE MESSAGE is a pretty good Animorphs book. Something I really liked about this book was that I learned a lot about dolphins (even though it wasn't meant to) and it's cool seeing someone's point of view from the ocean. Also, this book marks the first appearance of the new character, Ax. And Marco has a lot of hilarious and classic lines. So all in all, this novel--the first Cassie book--is a must read for Animorphs fans.

This isn`t Goosebumps, it actually has substance.,

This review is from: The Message (Animorphs , No 4) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am reviewing not only this book but this series as a whole. The series of the animorphs is about five children who have been entrusted powers to save the world. That in itself would put people off. But don`t be fooled, the story of the Andalites and the Battle with Yeerks are an interesting one, with the Andalites interesting culture and the yeerks lust for domination. The style of naration is original. With each part being told by a differant menber of the group, with the story being told with that persons point of view. The characters themselves are varied, with their unelected leader, the eagle boy, the reluctant, etc., gives a differant style of narrating each time. Tobias` especially since he is trapped as an eagle and must face the conflict of animal instict and human emotion. The thing that dissaponts me the fact the battles are always taking place in their town. The yeerks are elsewhere in the wold and yet the Animporphs seem t be taking all of Visser 3`s attention. Also the fact that noone else knoes about the Yeerks except them and that would be impossible. Animorphs is quite exciting and seriously increases the quality of books for children like this. eight out of ten.

Great book! Exciting and funny, too!,

Cassie starts having strange dreams at night. She ignores this at first, but then discovers that Tobias is having the same dreams! Is this a side affect of the morphing? Or could someone, or something, be calling for help? This book is nerve wracking and will keep you glued to your seat. Yet is packed with funny remarks almost all the way through

My son and I have been reading all kinds of genres since he was born..he likes mysteries which is why he picked this book for his summer reading. After about 20 mins we looked at each other and said "what the heck is going on?" neither one of us could follow the plot. I dont think it is hard to read, maybe just confusing. It contains some made up words and the idea of aliens need kids help by morphing into animals, is far fetched. I would not recommend this book to a child unless they are hardcore into science fiction.

I love the series so much and no longer have my collection as I gave them away when I was young. So I am rebuilding my collection one book at a time. These are easy and quick reads and are more compelling than a lot of books written and targeted at adults. If you are tired of the Vampire Twilight dribble and are into YA titles pick one up.
