I have been a fan of NRBQ for almost 30 years, ever since an army buddy turned me on to their interesting gumbo of music. I really enjoy Kick Me Hard, At Yankee Stadium, and Grooves in Orbit. Other albums (Tapdancing Bats) I don't care for. Yet every album will have a couple songs that are really enjoyable for one reason or another. But my two or three songs have a good chance to be completely different from the two or three songs YOU like. That's how it is with a group that plays such a wide range of musical styles. One reviewer decried the song "Spampinato" due to its simple lyrics. I found the song to be hilarious in its stupidity. Uh, that's a compliment. And "Girl Scout Cookies" came along around the same time as the Thin Mints. What timing. However, the rest of the album didn't really make me want to replay the disc. Some songs do grow on a person, but I didn't find much to make me stand up and take notice. I found it for $.71 (plus the ubiquitous $2.98 for p/h.) To me, that's about all it's worth.

A great mix of tunes. I notice that one reviewer bought it for "A Little Bit of Bad", which is a great song. But if you expect all the songs to sound exactly like that one you should be disappointed. They aren't a one trick pony.

If you're a NRBQ fan and don't have this disc then you better slap down the few bucks it costs. Solid Al Anderson leads throughout and stellar songwriting from Terry, Joey and Al. Highlights Little Bit of Bad, Nothing Wrong with Me, Spampinato, Designated Driver - Basically the whole CD rocks.

.10 to $1.00 for this CD! BUY IT NOW!
This was the last CD that NRBQ tried to go for the Top Of The Pops! They are the greatest bar band that you need to know about! It failed to chart yet it is a hit on my playlist. It is still a fun CD! Dave The BoogieMan

But not the place to start your NRBQ collection.Must have for the major NRBQ fan who needs all CD's by the band as I do. The boys have done better but hey they can't have a million seller every time out!

"A Little Bit of Bad" is a catchy tune. I bought the CD because of it. The rest of the tracks are awful."Spampinato" is merely the lead singer repetitively spelling out the name of one of the band members. "Ramona" is some sort of cacophonous pining for the titular girl. The rest of the tracks are, well, awful. |
