Message From a Mistress is a delight; it's a realistic and engaging novel about four wives who must determine which of their spouses is having an affair with one of their friends. Niobia presented a diverse cast of characters (it takes talent to be able to do that, believe me), and takes us on an adventure that provides insight into marital relationships and the heartbreak they sometimes bring. We're left on the edge on our seat until the very end. Readers who enjoy sassy, contemporary women's fiction may want to add this one to their reading list. Bravo!

Who would do that ? in any event I really was bummed that i wasted so much time reading this book and a sequel! How could she drag this out any more ..Honestly to tell you the truth the whole replaying of events was a tad annoying (flashbacks) and how long it took them to get from initally getting the message ..to the hubby's getting confronted ..it was too drawn out.....and I got BORED of the whole story.

2.0 out of 5 stars Negative Message From A Reader, April 26, 2010

"Message From A Mistress" reminds me of the movie " A Letter To Three Wives" that came out many years ago. I was really into this book because I wanted to see which husband was cheating. I skipped pages and was totally disappointed to see that I would have to purchase another book to find out the ending. Oh, well, I guess I will never know. Niobia, I'm an avid reader of your work, but my thumbs are down on this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Message from a angry READER!, April 1, 2010
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
The book seemed as if it would be good read from reading the summary and all. And it wasn't a bad idea, it just really had no excitement. The entire book these women just waited around thinking back on all the things that could possibly be wrong with their marriages, what could possibly lead one of their husbands straying to this "mistress" one of their best friends. I found my self flipping past alot of the thought paragraphs just to hurry up and get to the end. and the end was very disapointing. I couldn't imagine forcing myself through another one of these books just to find out who was cheating on their wife! Niobia could have come a little better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Long Ass Day, March 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
Let me first start by saying this was one long "Ass" day. The entire book to place in the span of one (1) day. By the time I got to the middle I realized that the ending was going to be about the men coming back from their fishing trip. It was still a good read in spite of this. I enjoyed the flash backs and trip down memory lane. They gave you more insight on the chracters, their spouses and the current state of their relationships. Like one reader mentioned, I too am sick of sequels. I realize this is a money making tactic for authors but damn does every story have to have 2 & 3 books before we (readers) get a resolution. It's getting really old and for me doesn't necessarily guarantee that I will invest my time and money into reading part 2. Anyway, this was a good read. Really got me to thinking about my own marriage and what I would do if I ever got a message like this. The author did a good job of not revealing to much about who's spouse was cheating. I actually finished this one without a clue as to which "one" it was. So with this one I will definately be waiting for part 2 (Mistress No More). I'd say this is a must read for all ladies, young, old and everyone in between

5.0 out of 5 stars "...Thoroughly engrosses the reader into this tumultuous set of drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat.", July 9, 2010
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
"Message From A Mistress is a page turner. This novel is packed with unbelievable drama that will capture readers from page one. Reeling you in as this incredible story unfolds."

"Four friends, Jaime, Renee, Aria, and Jessa have been close for a longtime. They have endured a lot together. However, things change when the ladies receive a text message from Jessa. She has been secretly having an affair with one of their husbands. Jessa neglects revealing the identity of the husband she is cheating with. This immediately puts Jaime, Renee and Aria on a quest to determine whose husband is in fact the culprit."

"Each woman wonders if their marriage is crumbling due to something they may have done. Could it be a past infidelity, pursuing a career over fulfilling wifely duties or revenge from a friend due to a competitive relationship? All three women try to support one another as they try to uncover who the unfaithful husband is."

"Message From A Mistress will keep your full attention as secrets are exposed, and relationships altered by revelations that will ultimately change life as they once knew."

"Niobia Bryant does an outstanding job crafting a novel that thoroughly engrosses the reader into this tumultuous set of drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat."

4.0 out of 5 stars Season Premiere, June 28, 2010
By
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
Four married couples share meals, laughs and outings. While they are all friends, they have limited what information has been privy to the entire group.

Unknowingly, Jamie, Renee and Aria have shared deep dark secrets with Jessa Bell. When Jessa Bell's husband, Marc, is killed in a motorcycle accident, the friendships stay exactly the same. Friends relishing in good times, none of the women worried in the least that their dirty little secrets would ever be revealed.

As the four girlfriends plan to spend a day at the spa while the men folk are off fishing, Jessa Bell, sends a text message explaining that one of their husbands will not be returning home to them, but instead will be coming home to her.

Angry, betrayed and hurt, Jamie, Renee and Aria are well aware of the reasons why it could very well be each of them, but are shocked to find that their friends' picture-perfect lives are also at risk.

MESSAGE FROM A MISTRESS by Niobia Bryant is hot off the presses intriguing. You spend the entire day in limbo with Jamie, Renee, and Aria watching as Jessa plots. You get to know intimate details about each woman. I hate to have to wait for sequels for this very reason, but I'm looking forward to how this will play out.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Betrayal, April 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
Message From A Mistress by Niobia Bryant is a story of an ultimate betrayal among friends. The story starts with Jaime, Renee and Aria on a girls' day out, relaxing and talking...when they all receive a single text saying the same thing. "Life has many forks in the road and today I've decided to travel down the path leading your husband straight to my waiting and open arms."

After each woman receives this text they realize it is from their other girlfriend, Jessa. Unfortunately, with each woman receiving the same text, no one is sure who's husband Jessa is referring to. Which leads to each woman to reminisce on past events with their husbands, that makes them think that their husband may be the one that Jessa is referring too. Each woman has their own issue or secret that threatens to destroy their marriage. The question is ...who is Jessa referring to? Also, when it is all said and done will Jessa feel it was worth it all to lose her friends for a man?

Message From A Mistress by Niobia Bryant was a good read for the most part. Ms. Bryant hit the nail on the head in her note to the reader, that either this was going to be a hit or miss with her readers. Unfortunately, I felt this was a miss. I was very disappointed after reading the book that the "husband" was never revealed, making for a long drawn out story. I am curious to know whose husband it is that Jessa was referring to, so I guess I will just have to be patient and wait until the sequel is released to find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 plus Need the Sequel NOW, March 1, 2010
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
Nobia Bryant Message from a Mistress was a wonderful book. The main character are off the chain Jaime, Renee, Aria, and Jessa. Jaime Miss Perfect who tried to hard to keep a marriage that wasn't worth it. Renee Miss Career Woman, who forgot to that a man is suppose to be the head of the house and missed all the clues. Aria the young ghetto girl who got the degree and fit in with the boghetto crowd. Jessa or Jezbell as the women called her played the role very close to the chest. The book was well written I can't wait until the sequel come out.

By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Message From A Mistress (Paperback)
This book is about a woman named Jessa and her 3 friends. Jessa is the mistress of one of the husbands. She texts all of her female friends to let them know she is the mistress and one of the husbands will be leaving them. But...which one?

So the wives all spiral OUT OF CONTROL trying to figure out which one of them will it be.

The story is so long and drawn out. It's ridiculous. It really didn't have much excitement. Only lots of sex scenes and sex scenes cannot make a book more intriguing. It was just way too drawn out and boring.

No sequel for me...
