Clear, easy to follow the format of this bible. While not meant to replace my "regular" bible, Pause allows me to do these things:
-Read the daily passages like I'm reading a novel -Ponder the questions at the end of the readings/ end of the week... that compels me to re-read some passages, think about the meaning of the passage and how that applies to my life. Also makes me want to go back to my "regular" bible to check-out the passage... it makes me want to read the bible more!

A Fantastic Study Bible,
By David McGinnis (San Antonio, TX) - See all my reviews

THE MESSAGE: REMIX//PAUSE is amazingly easy to read, but you can still get the meaning from every verse. Peterson and Tabb have done a great job translating the Bible into contemporary language, and the result is something that I (as a teenager) actually look forward to reading. One of many cool features are marked-out sections to read if you're looking to go through it in one, two, or even four years. I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh approach- a great buy!

Fresh and engaging,

I love this Bible! Other daily Bibles bogged me down, whether they went straight through or combined an old and new. I love the flexibility of this, and the fact that I don't have to start at January 1 and never miss a single day. I have read the Bible all the way through before, but reading it in The Message translation and with the pairings arranged by Mark Tabb, it has new life! Below someone mentioned that it is not a good study Bible, but that's because it's not a study Bible; rather, it is designed as a daily reading Bible. I recommend this especially for high school and college students or anyone wanting a fresh look at Scripture.

Very refreshing take on Scripture,

Having grown up in church I started feeling a little too familiar with Scripture. I found myself opening my NIV and simply re-reading all the parts I've highlighted.
In somewhat of a rash decision I clicked through a few reviews before deciding on this one. ...and I'm definitely glad I did. The Message translation is very readable and has definitely given me new perspective on things. On one hand, I like the way it couples Old Testament passages with the New Testament. For example: you read "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth..." then it hops over to John and you read, "In the beginning was the Word..." It provides some neat parallels, but sometimes I find myself so engrossed in the Old Testament story that I don't want to break to the NT just yet. All in all, it's very good and it's given me a new appreciation for the Bible.

I bought The Message/Remix after reading a book by David Crowder where he used references from this particular version of the bible.
It is an excellent daily study--mixing Old Testament and New Testament readings - with questions to ponder at the end of each days reading. It is a perfect slice of inspirational reading and i usually read it first thing in the morning. It actually "feels" like you are reading a HUGE novel- I really like the wording and the contemporary slant that is used on the verses. Very nice.

Not Usable - print too small,

This book is unusable by me because of the small print. It would take a person with perfect eyesight to read it comfortably. I am very disappointed since I wanted very much to have this particular Bible because of its content. The Amazon ad did not show the size of the print. This is a defect in the ad. Every Bible advertised should give a sample of the print size.

Making the Bible Clearer,
By A Reader "Gamer and a Reader" (Hartford, CT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Message//REMIX Pause: A Daily Reading Bible (Paperback)
I have tried a variety of daily reading Bibles and studies over 20 years and I haven't been able to get through one of them. I am very much enjoying The Message Remix as it ties related readings in the Old Testament to the New Testament every day. It does read like a novel and I agree with the previous reader - it's made me turn back to my main Bible. The reflection questions at the end of each section are excellent and not too easy to ignore, if you're really searching (I don't mean to preach - all of our walks with Christ are in different places.) This daily reader is hitting me just right. I've spent little time in the Old Testament out of fear and misunderstanding (I once bought a book entitled 'Who's Afraid of the Old Testament God' just because I was glad to find that someone else out there was afraid, too! I never read it...)

The Message "Remix" PAUSE,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Message//REMIX Pause: A Daily Reading Bible (Paperback)
I bought this for my 13 year old daughter because she had seen The Message (pink Bible) and said it was written in her language. We ended up buying this book and I don't think it quite appropriate for my 13 year beginner reader to the Bible. It jumps back and forth from old testament to new testament and it is very confusing to her. I think this book would be great for someone already very familiar with the Bible and wanting to read it in today's terminology. We have since purchased The Message and think it will be better suited for my daughter.

This is a very unique way to read through the bible. It's not one you'll take to church with you to find chapter and verse, but it's a great study bible. Each day's reading is from both OT and NT but not necessarily in chronological order. It's set up so that you can go at your own pace and not 'feel guilty' if you miss reading for a day. As always, Eugene Peterson's command of words and 'making it real' is amazing! His writing is poetry of thought. Love this version of the bible. Would recommend it highly.

This form of the Bible is very unusual and not exactly what I expected, but I am learning to use it slowly. The order it is presented in is difficult to follow and I am not always sure of where I am. I would have preferred it to be in Bibical order rather than the mixture between the old and new testaments.
