Book Description

November 27, 2000
Hebrew and Aramaic are the original languages of the Old Testament: Both use the same alphabet. Ancient Hebrew letters did more than represent the sounds of speech: Each letter was also an ideogram (a picture). So, the literal meaning of the Old Testament should include word pictures. This book melds each letter's ancient form, biblical usage, and numerical elements (determined by its position in the alphabet.

More than three hundred detailed word studies, supplemented with hundreds of shorter word studies, comprise the derivations. These studies reveal a remarkable infrastructure in Scripture that spans the entire Bible. This book shows that the Holy Spirit recorded history so that it also tells the future. These hidden prophecies not sensational: They do not predict assassinations, nuclear wars, or the date of the Rapture. However, these messages do tell about both of Christ's advents, the Rapture, the Tribulation, and eternity for believers and unbelievers.

The overarching Message in this book is the Gospel of Jesus Christ: A holy, loving God created man. Man sinned. Because God is holy, sins separate people from Him. Because God is loving, He sent His Son to die on a cross, bearing the sins of all. Jesus rose from the grave. Believing this, and dying to one's own sin nature, allows one to partake of God's heart-changing grace by faith. All who believe this and abide in Christ will know God's mercy and spend eternity in His presence. This is the Gospel (that is, the good news).

No prior knowledge of Hebrew is necessary to benefit from the word studies. Novices and pastors will find this book to be a useful supplement for Bible study and personal devotions. When possible, Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek words were numerically coded with the system used in Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. This book's alphanumeric concordance and Scripture index will help readers to find discussions that concern specific words or passages of interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Meat For Hungry People, January 26, 2001
This review is from: Messages from God (Paperback)
Dennis E. McGee book, "Messages from God - A Forensic Study of the Hebrew Alphabet" is hearty meat for hungry souls. This is a book you must eat very slowly because of it rich content. I recommend this book to all who like the deep things of the LORD. Dennis paints for us pictures by using the Hebrew and Aramaic letters, which are the original languages of the Older Covenant (Old Testament). The Ancient Hebrew letters do much more to teach us about who the Messiah is, than anything else I know of. Each letter an Ancient picture or ideogram, showing us the deep truths of God. God's holy Word is literal, and the Word pictures give credence to the literal text. I know you will enjoy this wonderful book, I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Unique Book, December 20, 2000
By
This review is from: Messages from God (Paperback)
You will not find another book like this anywhere. This book is a "must" for any serious student of the Bible. It is a demanding book, because of its exhaustive effort on the subject, but the person who wishs to know God's Word in a deeper way will be greatly rewarded. Dennis McGee writes in a simple, direct, easy to read style that helps make an involved subject easy to understand. The author even provides references necessary for the reader to pursue their own study. Unlike books like "The Bible Codes", Mr. McGee has captured a profound concept concerning the Scriptures that lacks the usual sensationalism associated with such books. This book challenges the reader on a devotional level to a greater appreciation of God's Word, and illustrates beyond the shadow of a doubt the Bible's divine inspiration and authenticity, showing the very order and arrangement of the letters in the Bible to be "God breathed".
