Messages From the Heart,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Messages from the Heart (Paperback)
The author of this book, "Messages From the Heart," passed away approximately two weeks after being released from Oregon State Correctional Institution in Salem, Oregon. The author, Ken "Duke" Monse'braten, originally from one of the Dakotas, served most of his lifetime in prisons throughout the United States. He was extremely intelligent and had a Mensa-level IQ. This book is a series of true short stories actually experienced by Duke and related in a heart-rending manner. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has or has had a loved one imprisoned. It is clear from reading the book that Duke loved his family but had a hard time overcoming his addictions.

Edwin Allen Lee (aka Ken "Duke" Monse'Broten) can capture the emotion of an event and create a incredible story that touches your heart and soul. We are proud to have him included in our books "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul," "Serving Productive Time," "Touched by Angels of Mercy," and "Serving Time, Serving Others." The most powerful story in "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul" is "The Sunray Catcher," which takes readers on a rollercoaster of emotions. It is one of many "WOW" stories in this book. Kenny and I corresponded for about 10 years. Although he was released in March 2007, he passed away a few weeks later on April 7, 2007, but he continues to inspire us with his touching stories.
