Book Description

October 8, 1999
Discover the miraculous and spiritually healing power that can result from communication with deceased loved ones, when you read "Messages and Miracles "by Louis E. LaGrand, Ph.D.
A companion volume to his previous work, "After Death Communication: Final Farewells, "this book examines after death communications (ADCs) more closely, and becomes a vital tool for ministers and counselors who help people in the grieving process.
"Messages and Miracles "is the result of questions people have asked him since the release of his previous book. It is based on his counseling experience and interviews with people who have had contact with a deceased loved one.
In "Messages and Miracles, "you will learn how to tell whether an ADC is simply the stress of bereavement or an authentic communication. You will be able to share how it is possible to establish a new relationship with the deceased and talk to children who report the experience. Actual accounts of ADCs that have never before appeared in print are shared.
"Messages and Miracles" answers a hundred important questions. The author has organized the questions and their answers into six categories:
-The Nature of After-Death Communications
-Origins and Causes
-Types of Experiences Reported
-The Experiences and the Messages
-Positive Influences
-Helping the Person Who Has an ADC
Among the questions answered are:
-What does the typical apparition look like (as reported by the bereaved)?
-How do ADCs change the lives of mourners?
-What types of messages are received?
-How do you know if a dream is an ADC?
-Can a mourner initiate the ADC contact?
-How should you respond to a child who reports an ADC?
The compelling, true-life tales of many people are included. With the answers to these questions, you will be able to bring comfort to the bereaved and have faith in the knowledge that the spirits of those we love continue. You will find "Messages and Miracles" a book that fills your heart and soul with love and hope.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

The loss of someone we care about always hurts, primarily, because we can no longer spend time with that person, but it also points out what appears to be our own, unknown future.

Thankfully, there is hope. If we can communicate with those we love and who are no longer here, it means that they, in some way, still exist. That means we will go on, too. This is the secret you will find revealed, with documented proof, when you read Messages and Miracles by Louis E. LaGrand, Ph.D.

This book is filled with joy and hope. It points to the future. As such it becomes a vital tool for anyone who is either grieving or who offers help to those who grieve. The compelling personal stories of the way real lives have been changed as a result of After Death Communication (ADC) will fascinate and thrill you.

You'll learn the difference between ADCs and guided imagery or hallucinations. You'll discover the different types of ADCs, from seeing an apparition to sounds or smells or symbols. Explained are how ADCs change the lives of mourners and the types of messages from the deceased people receive through dreams. You'll also learn how the ADC experience has helped so many get past their grief and how it sometimes changes a person's world view and creates positive spiritual changes.

Messages and Miracles should be required reading for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Death is not the end...its just a change in lifestyle...", February 10, 2000
By
B. Bryan Puk (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Messages & Miracles: Extraordinary Experiences of the Bereaved (Paperback)
Shirley, my soulmate and the woman I was to marry, passed away in July of 1994. Shortly after that I experienced various forms of communication from her. Since, at the time, I was not aware of the phenomenon of After Death Communication, I felt that I was losing my mind. I went to see several grief therapists regarding these experiences but their responses only seemed to confirm that something was not right with my state of mind.

Recently, however, I happened to receive a copy of MESSAGES AND MIRACLES and the book re-assured me that I was not going crazy. According to Dr. L. LaGrand's intensive research in this area, thousands of people have had similar ADC experiences...and all of a sudden I did not feel so alone. The information that the author presents definately supports the comment that was once made by Dr. Wayne Dyer: "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience...rather we are spiritual beings having a human experience".

Understandingly, those who have never experienced the transformational power of an ADC may be quite skeptical. But then how do you describe the smell of a rose to someone who has never smelled one?

On the other hand, if I am going crazy given my ADC experiences, I am proud to be in such great company as Dr. LaGrand and the people that he refers to in his book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Messages & Miracles is truly a Miracle & Message to everyone, October 17, 1999
This review is from: Messages & Miracles: Extraordinary Experiences of the Bereaved (Paperback)
The new book -Messages and Miracles- by Dr.Loius LaGrand is the result of a 35 year quest for the questions and answers to after death communication. I believe that at one time adc was considered to be a rare and paranormal experience, however, after reading Messages and Miracles, my thought is that adc,s are really a fairley normal and frequent experience. This is based upon the fact that the story of my Son,s adc to me is in the book and I have distributed over 186 copies to friends, relatives, grieving persons, nurses, critical care professionals, and interested people who have had adcs themselves. Over 150 people have told me of their adcs - many of them overwhelming-yet told in great detail and told for the first to an outsider- because of reading the visit of Eric Zimmerman to me ,his Father,Fred Zimmerman. Many of these people were friends, aquaintainces, customers, or people still in the grieving process with many questions yet to be answered. And Messages and Miracles answers many of these questions in an informational and eloquent style. Thank you Dr.LaGrand for the time, research, dedication, and effort to help thousands who have questions but could not find any answers to this age old mystery of after death communication. This book is an integral piece of the puzzle that helps complete the picture that everyone has in their mind when the bereaved faces trials and tribulations in the death experience. I did not ask for the death experience to happen nor wish it on anyone else but did receive tremendous support from reading Messages and Miracles as I and many people did find the answers to our questions and thereby helped to complete the grief cycle with assurance that we were not out of our minds when these extraordinary events occurred. A must read for every living and breathing person in this dimention.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual format, very worthwhile, April 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Messages & Miracles: Extraordinary Experiences of the Bereaved (Paperback)
LaGrand is one of the most experienced ADC researchers, and his previous book (Final Farewells) is well worth buying. He also has solid academic credentials. This book is in the format of 100 questions and answers pertaining to all aspects of the ADC phenomenon. I was a bit put off by the format at first -- but once you get comfortable with it, it is really quite helpful. The answers tend to run 2-4 pages; they are not superficial. The experiencers' accounts of their ADCs are woven into the answers. The answers also include a number of references to books that I was not familiar with in a variety of related fields. LaGrand seems to have a very sane perspective on the phenomenon and what it may mean. He is candidly skeptical about certain types of purported ADCs, but he is solidly in the believers' camp. This book would be equally worthwhile as an introduction to ADCs or as a thought-provoker for someone who is already very familiar with them.
