5.0 out of 5 stars If you're startiong out with MQSeries, get this book.
If you're startiong out with MQSeries, get this book. Even if you're using some other message oriented middleware, read the first 8 chapters. This book is an absolute must have.

2.0 out of 5 stars Suited for Those Completely Unfamiliar with Queuing
The information publicly available on MQSeries covers the information as well as this work. It is however, suitable for those considering the appropriateness and construction of MQSerier for their project who are completely unfamiliar with the topic.

I saw a review on this book here on Amazon stating not to buy this book. Why? The book was released in 1995 before the Internet really took off. Most people like myself purchased books to gain knowledge in this new technological area. Ok, so you can now go to IBM and download a white paper or red book and if you're a techie, you will understand what's written. People who were new to the messaging arena in 95/96, found this book a good read and one to recommend. Just the other day I was asked for any documents on the concept of MQ by one of the guy's in our network team and out popped the book, which they were grateful. In today's pressurising world, where there seems little time for sleep, a book which gives a good introduction to the messaging concept is sometimes the best medicine and I for one, am glad this book still provides answers people are looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book with vision into the future, April 20, 1999

This is a wonderful book. Strong fundamentals are a must, to gain expertise in any field of work. This book does exactly the same, with a good number of real life examples before taking you into the depths of how some of the awesome systems (in terms of user, data and transaction volume)such as airline booking systems etc. are designed. Kudos Burnie!! You know exactly how to drive the concepts into the minds of technologists and be remembered for years.
