Book Description

June 9, 2008
When life imitates art... Eva Cavell is a woman with an embarrassing secret. She is sexually frustrated and is convinced that her size and race intimidates men. In an attempt to relieve her sexual tension, every Thursday Eva goes to a local movie theater and allows desperate strangers to fondle her in the dark. She allows no eye contact, no phone numbers-and definitely no names. During one of her escapades, renowned artist, Jared Delaney, a smooth Southern gentleman with irresistible violet eyes, has Eva breaking her own rules. He has been watching Eva on her weekly visits and sees through her icy defence and straight through to the hot passion burning underneath. ...expect to be framed Messing about in dark theaters isn't a good pastime for Eva. She is a tenure-track instructor at a private Denver college that is currently embroiled in a sex scandal and she is the youngest child of a prominent black family. To add to her turmoil, Neil Hollister, Eva's classroom aide and former student, is a handsome, barely-legal frat brat whose interest in her is carnal rather than academic-and she's tempted. Despite desperate attempts to maintain control, Eva's world is spiraling into chaos. As emotional pressures build inside her, an explosion is imminent. Will she ever be able to live her life how she wants and without shame? The answer may lie with a woman who is bold and unashamed in her sexuality. Can Eva be more like her? What would happen if she even tried?

MESSALINA GETS 5 CUPS AND A RECOMMENDED READ!

Dr. Evadne Cavell is a professor at a prestigious college teaching the course, Women In Fiction. Compared to an Ice Queen, she has learned to protect herself against hurtful tips about her weight. Skeptical about her love life, Evadne has a secret life of foreplay with anonymous strangers. After a horrible scandal rocks her college, Dr. Cavell knows she must stop her fantasy play. However, it is not until she is caught that reality sets in as to what she is doing.

Jared Delaney is a forty-one year old artist with amazing violet eyes and a stereotypical artist's temperament. Having a reputation as a love'em and leave'em type, he makes a wide path through all the women he meets. Spying on Evadne over a period of time, Jared knows he wants this sensual woman in his life.

Jared and Evadne's worlds collide as these two characters explore each other in unbelievably carnal ways. From the dark corner of the movie theater, to a crowded airplane, to a quiet hotel room, these two travel on a fantastic journey through lust. But just as their lust starts building into something more, a secret is revealed, tearing the lovebirds apart.

The story was full of lust, love, fantasy, fiction, and many more feelings and emotions. I could not put the book down, anxious for the ending and dreading it at the same time. A well-written and unbelievably sensual delight, I would recommend Messalina, Devourer of Men to any reader who likes passionate tales. This erotica novel is what other books should strive to be. Ms. Brown certainly knows her way around a fantastic story of love, lust, and boy meets girl. Awesome read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Who Says Big Girls Don't Have Fun?, December 2, 2008

This review is from: Messalina: Devourer of Men (Paperback)
Messalina: Devourer of Men by Zetta Brown is a page-turner. From the onset, Dr. Evadne Cavall pulls you in with her sexual conquests at The DeLuxe Theater where she enjoys being fondled by anonymous men. But it is her by-day persona that really makes her an intriguing character. As an assistant professor striving to be tenured at Denver's Bellingham College, her demure personality does more than raise questions; especially since it is all a façade. Sexual frustration is what leads Eva to seek sexual pleasure in the movie theater. But what happens when she meets a passionate artist who exposes her perversion and leads her to a road of sexual liberation without her permission? And Eva is not alone when it comes to scandal. Bellingham College is up-in-arms when it comes to student-professor relationships. Guess who finds herself smack in the middle of the controversy?

Brown creates a tale of lust and love that is fresh and real. The sex scenes were finger-licking good and the plot twists were ingenious. This is a novel where everything definitely had its place. Brown also has the gift of wit that will not go unrecognized and I am sure she will have a large following (me included). There were a few editing mishaps, but the story was great and made them forgivable. Messalina is an awesome story of growth and I recommend it to readers who are tired of pulsating rods and the usual romance fluff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait to Read More from ZETTA BROWN!, July 7, 2008

I absolutely loved this book! Didn't want to put it down. It's unique, it has hot sex (with a purpose), and the characters are like some I've never seen in books before. The first chapter alone will get you in the mood...in more ways than one. Messalina: Devourer of Men has much HEAT and much HEART. It's worth the buy! I'm looking forward to seeing what Zetta Brown puts out next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Word!, March 28, 2009
I downloaded Messalina: Devourer of Men, with the assumption that I would get my money's worth. I wasn't wrong. Zetta Brown is an excellent writer, and I can only hope that she is busy working on her next novel.

There has been a lot already said about Messalina. I'd only like to add that it was refreshing to read a book with a full-figured black woman as the main, sexy character. How often do you see that? Not often enough. That's only part of what sets this book apart as not being your typical erotica fare.

This is a woman who likes to enter Adult theaters and have sex with anonymous men. That premise, alone, sets this book apart as well. In short - it's original.

You'll enjoy reading what happens to our protagonist as the tale unfolds.
