Frightening UFO Documentary, March 6, 2009
This review is from: Messengers of Destiny [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Although it has been several years since I have watched the film MESSENGERS OF DESTINY, this is actually a review of all of the Genesis III documentaries by Ufologist & documentary film maker Lee ELDERS, on this subject. They are; MESSENGERS OF DESTINY (1992), MASTERS OF THE STARS, (1994) and VOYAGERS OF THE SIXTH SUN, (1996). Despite the passage of time, these films remain as topical today as they were in the 1990s. These are documentary films which detail the so-called Mexico City UFO wave of the 1990s. In 1991 a number of (unrelated) people obtained chance footage of an unidentified aerial object hovering over Mexico City, while they were filming a solar eclipse. Much of the footage came to light when the Mexican version of 60 MINUTES canvassed their viewers to check their tapes and forward anything remarkable to the show. Subsequently, some 2,000 tapes were submitted during the time when these videos were produced, (and reportedly some 5,000 to date). These document the best recorded series of UFO sightings in history. As strange as this may sound, it got to the point where just about any day one could venture out at noon and see a UFO flying through the City skies. Many who witnessed this ongoing display came equipped with video cameras and they were NOT disappointed. This "wave" as it is known to Ufologists, (how I despise that term), is odd because most news organizations ignored it! The Fox documentary show SIGHTINGS, was the only U.S. news agency that displayed interest in these reports and subsequently documented this unfolding spectacle in their weekly TV show. Of note, please also refer to the SIGHTINGS (VHS tape) called; THE UFO REPORT, (1995), and the book, "SIGHTINGS: UFOS", (1997), by Susan MICHAELS. All of the Geneses III documentaries contain many of the best Mexican wave UFO videos, (some 200-300+ as I recall), interviews with key witnesses plus analysis of some of the films. Most of the shots are of extremely clear daylight discs, some of which are seen to be metallic and rotating on their axis. A set of "A-B" comparison videos (4 as I recall), are showcased next to one another, then compared by an analyst. A propulsion expert reviewed some of the footage (in MESSENGERS...), exclaiming that these were the best UFO films that he had seen. There were some other shots from around the world, which appeared to show the same structured object. Fascinating! Some memorable UFO clips presented are: 1) an object that seems to be performing a "hyper-jump" 2) near misses with commercial jet aircraft 3) a chase by Mexican fighter aircraft as shot by a local TV news team 4) a night shot of the so-called stair-step maneuver 5) a "swarm" of objects in the sky 6) a cylindrical object a mile or so long dispatching objects...the list goes on. Some of the oddest footage shows objects darting in and out among the clouds which reacted as though they knew they were being filmed and made attempts to both hide and "tease". Very weird and quite alarming, especially when one thinks of the ramifications. This footage was quite creepy to see, as was the clip of the large cylindrical object. Of interest is that the footage was shot while computers were in their infancy, thus practically eliminating a clever hoax. On the negative side the documentaries are indie films and they do reveal their low budget origins, however, the topic and footage is so compelling that one can overlook this. What I did not like was the constant references to prophecy, the ancient Mayans and Cosmic awareness. The events themselves are so compelling that most of the above was unnecessary. Sure, a brief discussion of the Mayan prophecy was probably in order, but that was it. These New Age connections only served to cheapen the presentation and in the process, perhaps make the uninitiated skeptical of what they had just seen. The general public usually shies away from sub-cultures, especially those that flirt with the New Age. I prefer the "nuts and bolts" approach (science) which is far more compelling. Sure, there may yet be a New Age connection, but let us not put the apple cart in front of the horse, so to speak. Despite this flaw, the films thankfully maintain a more journalistic approach rather than a "tabloidistic" one. I have therefore docked the set one star for this faux pas; however, the videos themselves carry the day. All 3 videos are MUST viewing as they record the events as they unfold. This is one set not to be missed and it would be tough to choose the best entry-though I lean towards MESSENGERS... In totality, the films are so broad and detailed in their sweep, they are certain to appeal to any thoughtful individual. A word of caution though, when one thinks of the implications presented this is also a rather frightening series of films. After viewing, you will probably never feel safe again as such provide prima facie PROOF that we are NOT alone. This is indeed a fascinating ride though the material is quite unnerving. Highly recommended!
