Just What I Was Looking For!,
By Wendelyn (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
This booklet was exactly what I was looking for to assist in understanding and celebrating the Passover Seder meal as a believer in Jesus. The book follows the traditional Seder order, and also fits into it elements of how Jesus celebrated the Passover for the last time. I gained a new understandging of the Last Supper, and appreciation of the Jewish Holiday. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is searching for how Jesus took the traditional Seder meal and made it into a new sacrament.

Pretty good,

This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
Of the Messianic haggadot I've read, this is one of the better ones.
It has all the elements, albeit in abbreviated fashion. It talks about how it's important to celebrate as though we, ourselves, were leaving Egypt. The blessing over the candles is slightly different than the traditional one. The only other Hebrew blessings are over the bread and wine. As someone else mentioned, this haggadah does read left to right, and it has very little Hebrew.

An excellent tool for understanding Messiah's last meal,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
This handbook is easy to understand even if you have little background in Jewish traditions. Using it, one can either simply read about a seder meal, or actually celebrate a seder meal. Either way, your eyes will be opened to the rich symbolism that Adonai wove into His commandments to keep this feast. The authors have intertwined the words of Jeshua (Jesus) as he shared this meal with His disciples. Holy Communion will never be the same to you as you learn what Jeshua was REALLY doing and saying on that last night with His disciples. Your awe of Adonai will be deepened as you realize that the Feast of Passover was a symbolic foretelling of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God.

Read The Real Thing,
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
Christian People,
If you want to celebrate what Jesus celebrated then read a Jewish Hagaddah. "Messianic" hagaddah is like saying "Christian" Koran. It's just silly. As a Jew I appreciate your wanting to learn but...learn from the real thing not a made up phony version of a terrific story. Get yourself a real Hagaddah. One star only because I had to do something.

Wonderful CHRISTIAN passover book,
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
This is a wonderful Passover book for Christians. This is not a traditional Jewish Passover. If you are looking for a Jewish Passover, you won't want this. It is claimed to be misleading. The term Messianic clearly means Christian. It is very clear in the description that is focuses on Jesus.
It will walk you through the Jewish tradition and also the prophecy fulfilled in Jesus. To celebrate the Passover without Jesus would be like getting up in the middle of a movie. Jesus is the hope and fulfillment of the passover. He IS the passover lamb. This book will in a detailed way walk you through the ceremony and meanings.

Needs Work,
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
First off, this Haggadah is very, very thin. There are thirty-two total pages, minimal Hebrew, and a lot of dead space and illustrations. The text is also limited in that it does not present a very Messianic feel, except for a few quotes from the New Testament and using the name Yeshua here and there. Another thing that bothered me, simply from a stylistic point of view, is that this Haggadah reads from left to right instead of right to left. I cannot recall the last time I saw a Haggadah written like that. It is really deserving of two stars, but I gave it three because there are very few Messianic Haggadot on market, and this one is actually one of the decent ones.

We used this one a few years back. It was concise, but had all the elements, and was meaningful. The blessing over the candles is slightly different, however, replacing "l'hadlik ner shel yom tov" with "u'vshmo anachnu madlikim hanerot shel yom tov" ("who has commanded us to kindle festival light" is replaced with "in whose name we kindle the festival lights.") Also, I would have preferred more Hebrew. On the other hand, the group I was with that night didn't speak much Hebrew, so they were satisfied with it. The only Hebrew were the candle lighting, the Mah Nishtanah and the blessing over the elements -- not even the shechechianu!

Messianic seder,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
This is an excellent edition of the messianic seder service. It will give non-Jews an insight to the last supper of Jesus. One criticism is that there does not appear the blesing for "al achilat matzah," which, I think, is pretty important

A TRUE SPIRITUAL TREASURE,
By Robin "Sky Robin" (georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Messianic Passover Haggadah (Paperback)
THIS LITTLE BOOK HAS ALLOWED ME AND MY FAMILY TO INCORPORATE THE BEAUTY OF PASSOVER INTO OUR CELEBRATION OF HOLY WEEK AND EASTER. WE HAVE USED IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND ANYMORE HOLY WEEK JUST WOULDN'T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT IT. IT IS NEITHER TOO SHORT NOR TOO LONG. IT IS JUST RIGHT. TO THOSE WHO MIGHT SAY IT IS NOT A GENUINE HAGGADAH OR THAT PASSOVER IS NOT A CHRISTIAN HOLY DAY I SAY BAH, HUMBUG! THE PASSOVER SEDER IS THE SETTING FOR THE CHRISTIAN EUCHARIST, THE FIRST MASS. I MIGHT ALSO ADD THAT MOST OF THE MESSIANIC OR CHRISTIAN HAGGADOT HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY JEWISH BELIEVERS IN YESHUA RATHER THAN CHRISTIANS TRYING TO CONVERT JEWS. FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, THIS ONE IS THE BEST. THANK YOU RABBI RUBIN!

The Messianic Passover Haggadah, sort of reminds me of a Reform Haggadah - it has all the elements but seems a bit on the short side. It does a pretty good job of blending the traditional elements with the details found in scripture about Messiah's Last Seder.
It's not perfect, but it is one of the better ones available. |
