More About the Author

Laura Arnold Leibman is Professor of English and Humanities at Reed College. She was born in Ann Arbor Michigan into a family of distinguished scientists. Since leaving Michigan, she lived in California, Chicago, Seattle, Australia, Panama, and the Netherlands before settling in Portland, Oregon with her husband, children, and two cats. Her second book "Messianism, Secrecy and Mysticism" won a National Jewish Book Award, a Jordan Schnitzer Book Award, and was a Choice journal's Outstanding Academic Titles for 2013. In addition to her print publications she has served as the Academic Director for the multimedia television series "American Passages"(Annenberg/CPB 2003) and the Lead Advisor for the multimedia series "Artifacts and Fictions" (Annenberg/CPB 2003).
