I am a messie? Yes you are!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Messie No More (Paperback)
Thinking I would get help on how to organize my household and get a handle on all the clutter, I picked this up. What I received from this book was quite different! I never realized that I fit into the "messie" category and couldn't understand how an otherwise organized, neat person could possibly allow all this stuff to clutter up. Sandra Felton helps to identify what a messie is and how to overcome that lifestyle as well as giving some brief steps on how to begin to organize and overcome the clutter. I liked this book so much I intend to purchase as many of her other titles as I can locate!

Not What I Expected, But What I Needed,
By MargoKey (Matthews, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Messie No More (Paperback)
If you're looking for a "how to" guide, this is not the book. Instead of handing out helpful hints, Ms. Felton gets to the root of the problem of being a Messie. My line has always been "I have every book on organization, I just don't know where they are!" Throughout the book, I felt that Ms. Felton lived my life with me. I learned a lot about myself. Most importantly, I learned that I am not disorganized, but that I am a Messie who needs to change my way of thinking in order to overcome my messiness. This book is amazing and I highly recommend it.

I am surprised at some of the reviews.,
By MsMe "MsMe" (USA) - See all my reviews

This is the first review I have ever written at Amazon and I must say I am surprised at some of the negative reviews by other users. I came to this site looking to by another book by this author because I found this book to be so helpful. I can't even begin to describe how this book has helped me in my life. I agree with the person that says this book is for someone who is not a 'cleanie' but instead needs to desperately understand the underlying reasons and thinking that a messie must contend with. I was at a level 1 and now I am probably at a level 3 (out of 10, with 10 being obsessively neat and zero being a hopeless hoarder) because of this book. It might not sound like a big jump but the difference it has made for my life is tremendous. I am shooting for a level 6 someday and would be thrilled with that. This book is getting me there. I am highly functional in most aspects of my life, but I just can't get organized! It is my biggest obstacle and I thank the author for her books. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has felt the helplessness of living messie.

This book was different than what I expected!,
By A Customer

With the sub-title being, 'Practical steps to put the messie lifestyle behind you', I thought this book would be filled with organization tips. Instead, it goes into quite a bit of detail (including religion) about why one is messie. It does not include anything to do about it. If you are looking for a book to discover why you are messie, it is good. If you are looking for practical, hands-on tips for doing something about being messie, this book is not for you.

"It Was Clean Last Week! . . . You Should Have Come Then.",
By "majorsloghome" (Trafalgar, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Messie No More (Paperback)
This is not the book you want to pick up if you're looking for 101 helpful hints to housekeeping. This is the book you read when none of those hints, tips, and everyday wisdom books have helped. When those same tips work for others but not for you. When you can envision an organized home in your head, but just can't seem to make it happen. When you can clean the homes of others, but yours lies a shambles. When the closet you organized last week is now worse than ever. When threats come from family members to leave you or depression sets in because of your lack of ability to keep things tidy. (by the way, critics, those practical housekeeping tips are in chapter 16)

Long on opinions; short on practical advice,

This book was a disappointment. I expected to learn more about organization and motivation as in Felton's other books (which have been helpful). Instead, this book is jammed with lots of religion, unfounded claims about ADD, and other nonsense.
