5.0 out of 5 stars Metal Arms is great
Metal Arms is one of the greatest games ive ever purchased, and ill admit that it was by accident. But when i tried it, it was fun, hilarious, and awesome. Definately a recommended buy, especially for the low price tag.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is a fairly good game and a wise move if you liked MDK
I'm going to keep it short and simple. It is a good game, great graphics, nice sound, good control response, yet the aiming leaves a lot be desire!. The game has not auto aim or lock on, which makes shooting any thing, while you are running, very difficult. In the demo you get a several weapons, although only a very few are actually useful. I'm assuming the full version...

5.0 out of 5 stars Do you have "Bolts of Steel?", December 13, 2003
This review is from: Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (Video Game)
I bought Metal Arms: Glitch in the System last week and I can't put it down, it's so addictive, of course the controls are somewhat difficult, but isn't that what makes all games great? (Metal of Honor: Frontline & SOCOMI&II. )

This game is insanely fun, and Hillarious, not to mention challenging, You have to recognize the enemy then figure out a way to kill it.

But being able to hijack certain enemy robots is the awesomest part of this game, you can atack the other army at no expense to you.

No doubt MA:GitS is s great game, if you can handle it! This game is definately in my top 5 games, which is a pretty good list considering there is 1. Socom II, 2. Rachet and Clankmor MA:GitS 3.NCAA 2004 4. Tak and the power of JuJu 5. Kingdom Hearts or Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

Anyone who loves 3rd person sooters should seriously buy this game, if your not sure that you want to shell out $50 just yet, rent it, no matter what you do, give this game a try, its worth every penny.

P.S MA:GitS is a whole lot like Halo for the PS2 and those who give it great ratings, do 't forget to put stars! Your hurting this awesome game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brings Halo Gaming Goodness to the PS2, October 15, 2003
This review is from: Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (Video Game)
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is absolutely awesome! Why, when I played a demo at Toys-R-Us, I was hooked instantly. My mom had to drag me out of there, and when I went back home, I went straight to this site just to check out when it's coming out(around November, just in time for Christmas :)).

Anyhow, why is this game so good?

You've got to play it to believe it. Halo fans, when I say that it brings Halo gaming goodness to the PS2, it seriously does! MA:GitS has all the right moves so that, when you play it, it instantly reminds you of Halo. MA:GitS has the best - and only the best - elements from Halo - weapons, crazy-as-hell enemies, awesome gameplay, etc. etc. etc.

However, MA:GitS is not a Halo clone. Its got it own bag of tricks, too. I mean, the plot, the graphics, the weapons: everything in MA:GitS holds as its own, even if they give even a SLIGHT reminiscence of Halo.

So, is MA:Gits going to be a hit? Should be. Give MA:GitS a try.

I still love Metal Arms even after playing all of the Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter series, among others. Sure, those games are brilliant and beautiful with rich graphics, storylines and overall game play. But even in the landscape of those pristine games, Metal Arms has some pretty amazing action, if that's what you are into. Yea, it's a little rough around the edges, the graphics could be better and it would be nice to have more to explore in each mission, but still the places the game takes you to are pretty darn cool and the combat nicely intense. There are a ton of challenging, even difficult, missions. Let's just say that Glitch is a very determined robot.

I love hacking into other enemy robots, especially Titans, and doing some serious damage. I love throwing a rare and elusive recruiter grenade when I need some enemies converted to friends. I love using a cleaner. I LOVE that you can snipe. Love that! Some of the levels are so intense that my hands tremble when it's over. Like the last mission. This is one of the most aggressive boss battles ever!!!

I just don't get some of the complaints. Who cares about frame rate? Why are the controls such a big deal? I thought the controls were fine and at least you never have to drill down for your weapons, they are all there readily available.

I can't believe that there is no sequel yet. This game could definitely become a successful series with some tweaking. In the meantime, I love Metal Arms and it is up there as one of my favorite games.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System is an absolutely amazing game!
There are about 17 weapons to choose from, vehicles, multiplayer, an insane robot madman, and my favorite, the ability to hijack evil robots to get behind enemy lines and to dismantle them limb by limb. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes a fun game with a bit of a challenge!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy game., July 10, 2005

I can see how this game was overshadowed by Halo and other wannabe Halos, its unfortunate because this game rocks and anyone with a GC or PS2 and even X-Box Halo fans will really enjoy it.

Gameplay wise its a combination of Jet Force Gemini (N64) and Halo (Xbox). Both games which I played a lot. MA:GITS borrows the good bits and adds a lot of good bits of its own.

There is always lots of intelligent action happening as enemy robots chase you down... or run away screeming when they are faced with extreme firepower of your assorted weaponry. The bigger robots take no crap, snipe a shot at them from far away and they will immediately pay you back... and boy are some of them intimidating, plenty a time when I see (or sometimes dont see) big robots coming towards me I think "its gonna get hot" and hell begins. This sort of terror later turns to pure joy when you "posses" one of these powerful robots and you realise the sort of hell you can unleash at your enemies, great fun!

The graphics are nice and atmospheric, with some slowdown but it does not get in the way of gameplay. Sound effects are great and the music, when it plays is quite good too, but not enough of it as there is a lot of silence in the game.

I played this game on Easy setting and its still provides a rewarding challenge, but its not about the challenge its about the fun and there is plenty of fun on offer here. The difficulty curve is spot on. There is always plenty to do and you never feel like you are up against impossible odds, be they a puzze or hard enemies.

I have been playing video games since the early 80s, so it takes one heck of a game to hold my attention for longer than a day, this one does because its just so much fun.

For all halo fans this is the perfect game for you. It is funny, fun, and the best part is you can watch the other bots go boom! This is the most fun game i've played. you get to go to 41 different places and you get to choose how hard from easy (which is still pretty hard) medium, hard, and nuts of steel. In nuts of steel i cant get past the second stge. THIS GAME IS AWSOME!

Excellent game for 20 bucks. Reminds me alot of the Transformers game, though the graphics and AI aren't as good. The variety of weapons and the ability to jack into other bots and control them is great. Definately worth picking up for 20 bucks.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, February 13, 2007
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (Video Game)
I was predisposed to like this game. After all, "robots blowing up other robots" is a tried and true videogame premise. Some of the best videogames ever spring from the same well (Paradroid for the C64, for instance.)

In the case of Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, however, promise falls short of reality.

The first and foremost strike against this game is the control system. Some PS2 games use a "point and go" control system. The player pushes the left analog stick to move in that direction, and uses the right analog stick to rotate the camera. If strafing (stepping to the side while facing the same direction) is desired, generally the left stick plus a flipper do the job.

Metal Arms ditches this for a more "first person shooter" style, where the left stick moves forward and backward, and strafes, while the right stick is used to rotate in place.

This makes something as seemingly simple as turning and running at the same time into an exercise in frustration akin to patting your head and rubbing your stomach simultaneously. Sure it's possible but it feels weird doing it.

Had the developers used a point-and-go system, the game would have been much more approachable.

The second strike against this game is the graphics. This game was released in November 2003, around the same time as Jak II and Ratchet & Clank 2, and falls far short of those titles. The motion in the game feels jerky, and the refresh rate seems to be below what's considered acceptable for other PS2 titles. (Perhaps the fact that this game is cross-platform means less time was spent optimizing the engine for any particular system?)

Overall, you'd be better off spending your gaming time playing the Ratchet & Clank series. Ratchet may not be a robot, but he does know how to blow up robots, and isn't that what's really important here?
