I have been waiting for this bowl to come out in a metal version, as I don't want my dog eating out of plastic. Well worth the wait. The size is perfect for my 113lb dog. I feed him 1.5 cups of food, twice a day, and it fits in nicely. I am going to order a second one for my 65 lbs dog.
I like that it slides around a little bit, further slowing the eating process. What normally takes less than a minute for my dog to eat now takes quite a few minutes. I am pleasantly surprised that it slowed his eating down as much as it did.
Easy to clean. I hand wash b/c it is coated in Teflon and I don't want the D/W chipping it off.
Well worth the investment. It really does slow my dog down from eating too fast.
PS. For those worried about the teflon, the manufacturer has recoated the bowls with an antimicrobial enamel. They are also making the metal bowl in size small.

We purchased this product after reading several reviews online. We have a black lab who gobbles his food with such intensity that we are concerned about health complications. We had tried several other products (at the suggestions of our vet) including a large, slow-down ball that goes directly into his bowl and even placing a large chain in his food bowl. None of these options worked for us. I was so hopeful that the brake fast bowl would be the solution to our problems. I was even willing to pay the rather high ($45)price tag to have a way to address our lab's feeding concerns. Sadly, it has done little to nothing to slow his eating. Although we place it on the ceramic tile in our kitchen (one reviewer claimed that the bowl will move around on the floor while the dog is eating...further slowing the dog's feeding) it is sturdy and heavy and stays put while Bodie eats. The first time we used it he did slow down a bit, but now eats around the "obstacles" in the bowl with little difficulty. It has slowed his eating a small bit (it maybe takes him an extra 20 seconds to eat all of his food) but not enough to warrant the cost of the bowl. Sadly, this product did not work for us.

After my lab mix ate the plastic version of this bowl, I upgraded to this metal one. Heavy and so far indestructible. I only wish it came in large, although would probably be too heavy to manage.

I was torn between purchasing a stand with food bowls so my dog could eat at her height vs this bowl which would slow her down. I chose the bowl and since my dog has been using it there has been no more gas. She used to wake up in the mornings and I would take her out and she would use the bathroom. When I brought her in she would want to go out again and I could hear her stomach making high pitched noises. When I brought her out again, she would just eat grass. She eats dry dog food (Wellness) but really fast. I think she was taking in too much air with her food. Anyway, now she has to pace herself and maneuver her muzzle to get her food.

Problem with this metal bowl is that after 2 months of use the paint chipped off into my dog's food. Given the fact that it is made in China, there is probably lead in the paint, so I had to throw it away and get a plastic one.

Purchased this bowl to help slow down the eating of a new family dog. Worked great the first time or two. Then we noticed the paint was chipping away on the three center posts. More than likely consumed with the food. More paint came off with each use. It's now in the recycle bin with other trash. Don't buy this. Will try a stainless variation found on Amazon's website.

my dog used to inhale his food down in 3 gulps without chewing. with this bowl he now eats just a few pieces at at time. his snout is a little big for this bowl but i think it helps in getting him to eat slower. he is a 65# pitbull. he ends up having to use his tongue to move the food around the bowl to the larger openings then he can pick it up. the metal bowl is quite sturdy. we have to put it on a kitchen rug or it clangs around on the tile whe he pushes it.

I have two 60 pound labs who love to eat fast. I'd tried the plastic Brake-Fast bowls and they worked great, until the dogs chewed them up. I was very happy to see there are metal Brake-Fast bowls. I had tried using a ball in regular bowls, which worked OK, but not as well as these bowls. The Brake-Fast bowl really slows the dogs down and there is no more choking going on during doggy mealtime. Excellent product!

The bowl has been in action for couple of months now and its still holding up. my dog has had less gas thanks to this bowl and the way it makes him slow down and actually chew his food so he feels full.

I bought the plastic bowl and the dog ate it. This one the dog can't eat, and can't push around. It has slowed her down some, adding peanut butter to her food helped also.
