Book Description

June 1, 1997
The Metal Databook helps you select the appropriate metals or metal alloys and use them properly, no matter what type of project you're working on. In fact, no other single volume covers the field the way this one does. Among its many unique features, the book compares ISO standards for various grades of metal from the United States, Japan, Great Britain, and many other countries; provides a wide range of standard test methods for determining material properties ... from Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers hardness tests to micrographic methods; and presents actual metallurgical data - including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat treatment - for cast irons, steel, aluminum, copper, zinc, and related alloys, as well as powder metallurgy. The Metal Databook also includes numerous helpful tables and charts throughout.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not even worth rating for use in US industry, October 7, 1999
This review is from: The Metal Databook (Hardcover)
Might be great if it were actually translated into American standards

1.0 out of 5 stars Not based on US standards., August 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Metal Databook (Hardcover)
Book is based on Indian standards for steels. Very difficult to use in most US industries. Steel callouts are in European form; e.g. C45N vs. 1045 Cold Drawn. Or 9SMn28K vs. 1117 Cold Finished. Does contain conversions between the two formats.

This review is from: The Metal Databook (Hardcover)
As the first reviewer stated, this book is written entirely in Indian standards. It's essentially useless unless you're an engineer in India.
