I don't use strategy guides, but I collect pretty much anything "Metal Gear" related so I bought this without hesitation. I read through it after beating the game on hard, and it's got a lot of helpful information. From strategies on how to S rank battles based on difficulty settings, to listing the locations of collectable items. It also tells you the requirements for every trophy/achievements and does the same for the titles. The pages that go in depth on the Enemies and weapons and attacks, as well as listing out the differences between each difficulty mode are great as well.

There's also a cool art gallery in the back that has concept and design art for the bosses, as well as one for the different types of cyborg enemies. The lithograph is really nice as well, and the guide itself is pretty high quality.

Piggyback Interactive has been releasing more and more strategy guides in the United States and I'm always glad when they come through and make one. I'm sure many people remember the strategy guide that was done for Metal Gear Solid 4. It was a nice little guide that was filled with tons of depth. Piggyback hasn't let me down before and they come through again in real fashion. Metal Gear Rising isn't a particularly difficult game, but the guide is a pretty amazing. If anything, it is the perfect compliment to the game.

The guide begins, as so many do, with all the basics. It'll introduce you to the cast, give you a quick rundown of suggested playthroughs (increasing by difficulty) before jumping into all the gameplay mechanics. Here you'll learn all the basics of combat and all the basics of parrying and parry counters. It's got a lot of depth for those looking to get into the game. A nice little aspect that I rather liked about all these basics, however, is that the game actually took some time to talk about difficulty levels. A lot of strategy guides often forget that there are fundamental differences between playing a game on Normal or Hard. And in the case of the Metal Gear franchise, the differences are pretty big. Usually there are more enemies. In Rising there are sometimes different sets of enemies. And I was glad to know this before jumping into the actual game itself.

This all really helps when we get into the walkthrough itself. There are maps for every new area. And usually there are waypoints on the map. You find I on the map and then find I on the map (and then II, III, IV, etc.). There is also going to be a difficulty assessment chart to give you an idea of how hard certain parts will be based on difficulty.

I have already heard numerous reports as to how detailed this guide is, and after looking through it, I can already tell those reports are true.

The guide is engineered to help players complete the game on all difficulties from Normal to Revengeance with S ranking in all levels. And of course it comes with the other essentials (collectibles, secrets, weapon and enemy statistics, trophies/achievements, etc.) There's also a section near the end for VR missions. All in all, it is a complete guide packed with all the good detail.

Being a collector's edition guide, it of course has some collector's edition flare. Flashy hardcover, snazzy art, and an exclusive character gallery make this a must own for those who enjoy Metal Gear and its unique art design.

If I had any gripes about this guide, it's that I'm used to strategy guide pages being full color. What I mean by that is that this guide is full color, but there are plenty of white spaces on the pages. This is no problem though, just a personal opinion.

This is a great guide, both for game completion and for your Metal Gear collection.

Great looking, bonus info and art inside as well.
Really good for game completionist gurus out there.
Should also take a look at the soundtrack album, an awesome buy IMO.

Lush, informative, and written in a confidence that would WILL play this great game 5 times or more, this book, this exact edition, is well worth the price, up and over the non-collector's edition.

For a game you'll most likely never trade in, and play in the future, it's quite essential, and beautiful.

I have, and apparently always will love the Metal Gear Series, and the new game is wonderful; this edition compliments it perfectly.

Also, I'm not sure if the details tell you it's a hardbound edition, but it is, and I should not it is bound well, and hasn't creased, cracked, or fallen apart as some hard-bounds do. Well made!

Now I am a HUGE fan of this game, and I haven't really played many of the other Metal Gear games, but this one i was immediately hooked. As I am a huge fan of Platinum games who helped produce this game, After being sold and mesmerized by the game Bayonetta i knew this was going to be an amazing well developed game! When i saw this guide available when it first came out, i knew i had to have it because i had a hunch it would sell out fast!

The guide itself is Hands down the MOST amazing guide I own! from top to bottom this guide is sheer awesome, featuring Raiden on the cover. The guide is also very flashy which is a plus because it just adds to the "Awesome" aspect. When the light hits the cover, the sword covered in lightning just lights up as well as pieces on Raiden's suit. It's everything the normal standard strategy guide will do for you and more! it also is packed with a numbered exclusive lithograph by the Artist Yoji Shinkawa. The lithograph itself is just the icing on the cake, as an extra for the guide! Anyone that is a fan or just appreciates well designed guide books this is a MUST have! The company Piggyback who designed this book did an OUTSTANDING job with this guide, i was really impressed with it!
