You, as the Virtual Reality embodiment of Solid Snake of MGS fame, can go through specific training for each of the weapons in MGS, combat simulators, and even a photo shoot. That's right, while you're working through the VR missions (most of which are mini-puzzles), your reward is that you get closer and closer to the game's female characters in a photo session. You can also unlock extra missions, eventually becoming able to play as a ninja.
The best part, though, is working through the higher level training missions, where the skills you thought you perfected in MGS are really put to the test. With 300 missions packed into this game, you better start training now. --John Cocking

For those that have already played Metal Gear Solid shouldn't have to even think twice about purchasing this amazing game! Over 300 complex VR missions ranging from cerebral based challenges to reflex oriented, there's plenty of variety to satisfy any gamer. Great difficulty, complemented by deep, multifaceted stealth gameplay offers quite an amazing package. Don't worry about replay value, you'll end up spending hours of time trying to shave seconds off your VR times. As long as you're buying this, You might as well buy Metal Gear Solid, possibly the best game ever made. Definitely a must have for any Playstation console owner!

In fact, I'd really only recommend this to those people who really enjoyed the gameplay and challenge of Metal Gear Solid. As I understand this, this disk was part of the game that was cut and then re-released in Japan as Metal Gear Solid Integral, as a VR Disk packaged with the game.So as is, here in the states, we get a disk with just the added VR levels. I have to say, I did enjoy some parts of this release very much, though there were several points where I was let down. This game takes place pretty much exclusively in the VR environs seen in Metal Gear Solid, and doesn't include any of the storyline, speech or backdrop that helped to make MGS a great game. Playing as the Ninja is great, though there are only 3 levels to play him in. The mystery mode can be somewhat fun, though I don't see much replay value in it. So all in all, don't buy this game unless you really loved MGS for it's gameplay and you want a chance to recieve some additional training with the Stinger and Nikita and SOCOM and PSEG and all the rest. I'm very much a MGS enthusiest, so it was great for me. If you aren't, think twice.

Great add-on to Metal Gear: Solid!,
This review is from: Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions (Video Game)
This game doesn't have a story... But that is actually a good thing! VR Missions is great for those of us who have to wedge game playing between an ever-changing schedule. Most levels take anywhere from 30 seconds to five mintues... and you can exit anytime and save your game. So, if you have to get up and run... you really haven't lost anything if you take ten seconds to exit and save.It has all the classic moves from MGS, and some fun levels like "Mystery" (arrest the right murder suspect), Puzzle (think enemy-dominos) and round after round of weapon-based combat (so you don't ALWAYS have to sneak around). I'd say pick this one up, with a ten-dollar price tag, there isn't much of a reason not to!
