An overlooked gem...,
By Dale Lammers (Grand Prairie, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Metal Massacre 4 (Audio CD)
Oh yeah, this one's an overlooked gem alright. As with most various-artist compilations, there are low points.(Medieval's "Medieval" comes to mind.) However, if you'll look at the liner notes, you'll see that, aside from Lizzy Borden, the disc's strongest cuts come from Midwestern (Ilinois to be exact) bands. CASE IN POINT: Trouble's mind-numbingly brilliant "The Last Judgement." However, the true glory here lies in War Cry's magnificent "Forbidden Evil." I may be in the minority here, but this is one the heaviest things ever scorched to vinyl. How such an astonishingly foul breath of black wind could be concocted by such a young, unknown band is beyond science. Can't help but wonder what the hell ever happened to War Cry. Suffice to say, the War Cry track and the rare Trouble track are worth the price of the CD alone. One could do much worse...

The Metal Massacre series is awesome but this one is one of the low points.Witchslayer and Lizzy Borden are the only bands worth hearing on this album...
