Oh Dear Lord, these pencils are unbelievable!!! I started drawing/painting last year and rely heavily on water soluble pencils. I started with Artist' Loft watercolor pencils, but found them hard to work with (don't waste your time and money). I then bought Derwent Inktense and Graphtense, which I love and will always use. I wanted to add more colors and bought these Faber-Castell pencils after a bit of research. The first thing I did was to make my own color chart. What I found was 1) the color literally flows off the pencil on to the paper with hardly any pressure, 2) the shift from one shade to the next is so subtle and the range so complete that I can't imagine needing any other colors, 3) when wetted, the colors are deep and fast, 4) these are so easy to blend that the range of possibilities is infinite. I mostly draw the colors on dry and brush out wet. The colors sink in to the paper where I drew it without running elsewhere. These pencils are fairly priced and worth every penny. These Faber-Castell's will forever be my primary tools. If you love watercolor and the control pencils give you, you cannot go wrong with these.

I just received my 120 watercolor pencils by Faber Castell and am excited and awed by them. They are beautiful used alone without the addition of water but outstanding when used as a watercolor medium. The colors are rich and vibrant and so easy to use. I'm in the process of making a watercolor chart for each color because when water is added the color is so intense . They also sharpen beautifully. I've been wanting these pencils for some time , finally took the plunge ,and am so happy that I did! Watch carefully for the best price. I spent about a week watching the prices on Amazon and finally got the price that I felt comfortable paying for and I think I got a great bargain!

These pencils were everything I had hoped they would be .Before purchasing I reviewed and researched as much as I could comparing these to other top brands.I am sold on the quality of faber castell and have enjoyed all of their products in the past but never used their water colored pencils .Been currently using Prismacolor but wanted to try something new.
Once I had made my decision to buy these I waited a couple of weeks watching the price, hoping to catch a good deal since they are expensive . I finally took the plunge and decided to get the 120 set and I am so glad that I did !The colors are fantastic and there are a few colors in the set that I have not seen elsewhere .This set also has flesh tones, many reds and many greys which some sets don't offer. They layer and blend easily , apply smoothly and look great when using dry .When using wet ,they look like watercolors if applied lightly but if you use more pencil they look just like paint and are very vibrant in color.I have had no problems with them breaking , leads falling out , etc. The one thing I might mention which is no biggie is that they did not fit in my standard pencil sharpener but I had a faber castell pencil sharpener from a pencil set and they worked fine in it . If you have been trying to decide on which pencils to buy I don't think you will be displeased with these . The company is also eco friendly if that is important to you .

As a professional designer-I've been using these pencils for years and they are the easiest to blend and have the richest color of any of the water-color pencils on the market. I am starting to hoard these as the large sets are becoming increasingly difficult to buy.

and I'm not talking about ice cream! I have lots of other watercolor pencils, but these are the best. The color goes on smooth, is easy to manipulate, and looks AMAZING, especially when combined with Derwent Inktense.

I was using another brand of a 36 count watercolor set. I thought they were fine until I got the 120 Faber Castell watercolors. When water is added, their colors are very brilliant and rich. These pencils really put down a lot of smooth color. They also have one of the best colorfastness ratings of any pencils on the market. I have the Faber Castell regular colored pencils too. Their color names and numbers are identical, which means I can have one color chart. I searched many stores thinking the art stores would have the best price. Nope! Amazon beat everyone's price by at least $15 and shipped free. Thanks Amazon!
