Masters of Metal,
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
This book is amazing. It's got everything you would need to know about Metallica. My only problem is that it was written in just after the Black Album, so if you're looking for recent info, you may want a different book. However, if this doesnt matter or you are a collector of anything by Metallica or about Metallica, you need this book. It covers all of the history of the band, from when they played the Whiskey in San Francisco to the release of the Black Album. It also covers the tours Metallica has appeared on or headlined. The book has around 50 pictures as well. I strongly reccomend this book to anyone looking for information on the greatest band of all time.

This is how to do a band bio,
By N. Durham "Big Evil" (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
Spanning Metallica's entire history up until 1993; this slickly put together unofficial biography is an absolute must have for Metallica fans young and old. Full of facts (both widely known and others not known at all) and unpublished pictures of the band from their garage days to their glory days, the only thing that K.J. Doughton's book lacks is in terms of depth about Cliff Burton's untimely death and more of what Jason Newsted went through in joining the band. All that aside however, out of all the "unauthorized" and "unofficial" biographies of Metallica that have been out there for years, this is undoubtadly the most well put together one, and is surely the best.

Metallica Unboud : The Unofficial Biography,
By Anna C "apocryphalnoise" (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
I first got this book when I was just starting to get into 'Tallica, and I was so glad I did after reading this. It tells you everything, from Lars' moving to California from Denmark to James' mom to Kirk's entering the band to Cliff's death to Jason's entrance to James' unfortunate fire accident. The pictures are also really good. A must for true Met fans.

Decent...But I finished wanting more,
By
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
As any die-hard Metallica fan, its GREAT to see the unpublished color photos and quotes from the band members...But there is just not enough information on the touring side of the band and life before they teamed up together. The parts on the death of Cliff Burton, and Jason first joining Metallica were not discussed in detail as I would have liked. But, still...A good book, just not enough detail. Check out METALLICA: THE FRAYED ENDS OF METAL for MORE information. That was a MUCH better book, although not as nicely put together as this one.

Wonderful book,
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
This book is great. The author tells the story of Metallica from the very beginning, how the band members got together, etc. In addition to that, it contains a very interesting (and a little funny) interview with James from the early 1990s. The photos are also great! There are a few cool pictures of the band back from 1981-1982 with Dave. I could not put the book down once I started reading.:)

The most info for the beginning of the greatest band of all.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
K.J. really knows Metallica pretty well. This book is filled with the most and the best info on the bands any fan would want. Most of this info you wouldn't even hear from the band that much. This boook is for the littlest Metallica fan to the Die Hard long time Metallica fan. After reading this book I have found out a lot of stuff about Metallica and thier roots. Coming from the town where the first Fan club had come from and where somewhat the beginning of Metallica's history had begun this is the book for all people Metallica fan or not.

By A Customer
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
I felt that the book did an excellent job covering Metallica's history. There are all kinds of photos that alone make this book worth every penny. (watch amazon mark it up now!) This is excellent for both old and new fans, and it's great to find out who Metallica really is. I got one copy, read it & loved it, got another for a friend. Really a great book. Please email me if you find other great Metallica books. Thanks.

Best Metallica bio I've found,
By "guy973" (Earth, you idiot) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
"Metallica Unbound" has the best and most complete (minus the ten years between when it was made and now) biography of Metallica I have yet to find. It has everything from Lars' coming to America to 1993 Metallica. Not only is it complete, but it's hard to put down. If you're a Metallica fan who wants a bio, look no further than this.

A must read!!,
By Shannon R. Feeney (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Metallica Unbound (Paperback)
This book was amazing! It gives you an insight on how the band formed, and has exclusive interviews with former band members, plus, a wonderful Cliff collage. This is a must have for any Metallica fan. If you're like me, a big ol' Jason Newsted fan, then you might me a tad disapointed when you get to the chapter that he's fetured in. No complaints at all, but if he were mentioned a bit more, then the Jason Newsted fan in me would have been overly flabbergasted! Aside from that, I overly enjoyed the book. Metallica is my number one favourite band. I've read it so many times, and K.J. Doughton did a very nice fine job with this book. It also has rare and never before published photos, like an early photo of Kirk and Exodus, and a picture of Jason with Flotsam and Jetsam, in 1985. A must read! Ask a friend to borrow it from!
