unbeleivably good!,

well... i guess it was bound to happen, after all there were those elektro/industrial tributes on cleopatra... I like it... it's a _FUN_ record... electroclash is about _FUN_ so this makes sense. The track listing here is different than on my CD, which has bands from Tokyo, Berlin and other cities around the world. I like the fact the artists sing in thier native langauges! How how to here Metallica songs in Japanese!

Not just a novelty.,

You know, a bunch of people are going to pick this up just for the sheer novelty of the idea. The payoff will be when they actually get home and listen to it and find out that the artists involved actually put together some genuinely enjoyable tracks. If I heard one of these songs without knowing where it was from, my FIRST reaction would be "Hey, this is good stuff." The "hey, wait a minute, isn't that a Metallica song?" would come later. Then I'd have a good chuckle...and keep dancing.

Neither good electronic nor good Metallica,
By EW "ecoder" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Metalliclash: Tribute to Metallica (Audio CD)
As a long-time Metallica and electronic music fan, I am quite disappointed with this CD. Not only does this album not do justice to the Metallica songs it attempts to recreate, but it's also nothing special as far as electronic music goes. This CD was probably envisioned to do something similar to the S&M album, which exploited the amazing qualities of two clashing musical genres; but it definitely fails to do that. On most of the tracks, the Metallica lyrics are not skillfully integrated into the techno beats, so the words sound just plain useless. Many of the tracks distort the songs so much that I could not even tell which song a track is trying to imitate without looking at the track listing. This is quite a poor album, I would not recommend it.
