Metaphorest is the mythical moniker of singer/songwriter Sarah Daly and the umbrella under which she makes music. Influenced by the likes of Kate Bush, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Joanna Newsom her debut album is a beguiling collection of songs that weave effortlessly between the joyous and the poignant.
From the infectious lilting rhythms of "My Friendly Skeleton" and "Smile Bomb" and the trance-like quality of "Siren Calling" to the stark, beautiful simplicity of "Clocks Back" and "Apologist" there is plenty going on in this album to keep the listener interested and with repeated plays you discover plenty of hidden nuances in the music. The combination of Metaphorest's hook-laden pop/folk fusion, stunning dreamlike voice (think equal parts Kate Bush, Beth Gibbons, Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell) and some infectiously delightful arrangements make this an incredibly strong debut album which will ultimately put a smile on your face. In all this is an album and artist that is deserving of a wider audience

I came across Metaphorest by accident and I'm so glad I did. There is a depth and range to this album that is refreshing. A great voice singing lyrics which contain am ad-hoc mixture of everyday situations and phantasmagorical leaps into darkness and light. I have to keep going back to this album and as with all the best collections my favorite track keeps changing with each hearing.

This is a beautifully presented cd with great artwork and is a must buy recommendation from me. I can't wait for Metaphorest II.
