I read Don Pendleton's books starting with the beginning of the Executioner series. Reading about his processes, life, and views was interesting. It's unfortunate Don passed away, but this is a fitting legacy for anyone interested in Don, or in action-adventure series writing. For those considering a career in writing this is an inside, sincere look at the dedication and passion needed to overcome obstacles and persevere towards success.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don Pendleton Created the Genre, May 7, 2011
Before Don Pendleton came along, there WAS no 'action-adventure genre'. He simply invented it, with his famous 'Executioner' series. More than forty years later, this genre is bigger than ever, extending to entire series of other books, blockbuster films with fat budgets, and the creation of AA characters that have become bigger than life, played by people such as Schwartzenegger, Willis, Bruce Lee, Bronson, Norris, Clint Eastwood, and a host of others. It spawned the famous directors who keep making the films even bigger, such as Michael Bay, Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, and many more.

But it all began with Don Pendleton. All roads eventually lead back to him. So when he puts out a book such as this that delves into the mind of a novelist and how he can change the world if he comes up with a unique idea, readers should enjoy finding out how it was all done.

This one is highly recommended.
