5.0 out of 5 stars synthesizing spiritual values, May 27, 2009
"Larry Mullins in The Meta Values Breakthrough advances the Meta Values of Abraham Maslow by synthesizing the scientific, philosophical, and spiritual values of truth, beauty, goodness, and love into a vision of integrity, caring, and excellence to transform human motivation and achievement. This potential is demonstrated by illustrations of his own mental-spiritual pilgrimage and in the lives of people like A. J. Cronin, Viktor Frankl, Buckminster Fuller, and many others. Larry shows how the top one percent of achievers tap into an endless flow of energy, inspiration, and motivation. Steps are outlined to create your own vision of creativity and how to actualize this vision. Scientists, religionists, and philosophers will find much food for thought in these pages. In fact, I would urge anyone interested in spiritual growth and experiential wisdom to read this inspiring and helpful book and seek to put in practice, to live, its transforming insights."

5.0 out of 5 stars Regenerative power of great ideas, May 26, 2009
By
"The MetaValues Breakthrough" is superbly written, with both clarity and grace. It has been sometime since I've read much of Maslow, or about him, but this is the best overview I've come across. I've always felt that the insights and influence of Maslow have been overlooked and underrated. In my own life, I put him alongside Victor Frankl and Rollo May, who helped me as a young adult once and for all consciously transcend the dogmatism of behaviorism. I'm reminded of studies of the creative personality, which parallel, in large part, his description of the self-actualizing person. It also reminds me more recently of the work of Robert Greenleaf in "Servant Leadership." I think "The MetaValues Breakthrough" is an excellent work, with the regenerative power of a great idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for Life-Navigation, May 15, 2009
I was fortunate to get my hands on this book before it was published. The title seemed "new-agey" and esoteric, but after reading just a few pages, I knew I stumbled into a goldmine. Being a military person, my time is limited; this book was entirely worth every minute. The author (Larry Mullins) has the experience in mining his deep insights into a strategy that will positively enhance your life. However, be forewarned, it is not a book for the frivolous or the shallow! If you spend the time thinking and internalizing the principles of this book, changes will happen. Your interior orientation will change, and this will result in lasting and profound changes in your life.

My only wish is that this book had been written a few decades ago, wherein I could have incorporated this work into my life sooner.

For the pragmatic military man, it is a very useful tool, and it will be a useful item to have on those long deployments and overseas tours.

5.0 out of 5 stars JJ - Moscow, RU, June 14, 2009

It would not be a stretch to say that Larry Mullins is not only keeping alive Abraham Maslow's insight into self-actualization, but also has restated in modern phraseology how these concepts are attainable by all who sincerely desire to put into practice the highest concepts of Cosmic Truth, Universe Beauty and Divine Goodness. In Chapter Six, MetaThink...a New Concept of Reality, Larry has drawn upon the highest Ideas and Ideals available to humankind and made them available to all of us in a lucid way. The quote on page 125... ( "The eye of the material mind..." 47) is an example of Mullin's insight into Meanings and Values and his ability to draw upon numerous sources and make it readily accessible to all who are searching.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I've read., June 5, 2009

Long before there was a Tony Robbins or Zig Ziglar, there was Abraham Maslow. He laid the theoretical and psycho-philosophical foundation that would later provide the impetus for the self-improvement programs of many modern authors. Larry Mullins, with this excellent book, The MeatValues Breakthrough, goes "back to the source" to mine the depths of Maslow's transformative teachings on self-actualization and values hierarchies. What makes Mullins' book so valuable is that it is easy to read without being shallow. I especially liked the many examples and personal accounts used in the book to demonstrate and highlight basic teachings. This is NOT another "self-help" book. It is far more. It is a powerful tool that YOU can use to upstep your evolutionary journey toward a better life and a brighter future. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Metavalues Breakthrough Should Be Required Reading, May 18, 2009

I am a psychologist, helping people to overcome emotional pain and unnecessary self-limitations. My doctoral dissertation was on an aspect of Abraham Maslow's metavalues. I totally agree with Larry Mullins about their vital nature and am grateful to him for continuing to develop what death prevented Maslow from furthering. In The Metavalues Breakthrough Larry does a marvelous job of incorporating wisdom and experience from his own life and those of many other outstanding people, integrating it all with Maslow's concepts to present the most advanced framework I've seen for achieving lasting peace, joy and optimum actualization of potential. I will recommend The Metavalues Breakthrough to my clients and would love to see it as required reading for all high school seniors as they embark on their independent lives. Larry has a very effective style which reaches each person as if he were in a dialogue; his book is a special gift to each reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars A roadmap toward genuine self-respect, July 3, 2010

This review is from: The Metavalues Breakthrough: Limitless Power, Boundless Opportunities (Paperback)
The author has distilled what at first appears to be complex life-plan into a few simple steps readily accessible to all of us. His conversion of the recognized realities -- Truth, Beauty and Goodness into actions is insightful. The acronym ICE keeps them in mind: Integrity, Caring and Excellence. That concept alone is worth many times the price of his book. Even I can adopt those values. Maybe the little things count for much after all.

I teach beginning business courses and have introduced author Mullins to the curriculum. I think MetaValues helps transform students vague notions of how to achieve success into genuine motivation. Well done.
