Great workout - Goofy Instructor,

This review is from: The Method - Baby & Mom Post-Natal Yoga [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I liked this tape a great deal. Its a really good workout - you are definitly sweating by the end of it. But the instructor does quite a bit of new agey stuff [which I fast forwarded through] and she gets a little annoying. As mentioned previously, my baby did not like the workout part [being used as a weight, etc]. However, she *really loved* the 'baby yoga' and massage towards the end and we enjoyed that together frequently. I think it was really great for her. She also liked watching the other babies on the tape, which I thought was cute, too. I ended up doing this workout mostly while my baby was napping though. I think this is a good way to get in shape after delivery, but you have to kind of ignore the instructor at times and fast forward through parts that aren't working for you.

A waste of money and time,

To begin with the instructor did not even have a baby with her. You are suppose to do yoga with your baby next to you for the most part. You are to perform the postitions around your baby. When I went from the triangle to the cobra, my baby grabbed my hair. When I lifted her overhead, she drooled on me. When I rocked on my back with her between my legs, I almost bonked her. At the end you are suppose to walk around the room holding your baby. I can do that while I do housework. This video is goofy.

Good thing it didn't cost any more than it did...,

Let me begin by saying that yoga is not new to me, and prior to this video I typically found yoga instructors soothing to listen to and I love the serenity of holding poses and breathing deeply. If that is what you're looking for, don't buy this video. Khalsa talks CONSTANTLY through the workout. (And she doesn't have one of those mellow, relaxing voices either.) The exercises were not familiar yoga poses, but were the more traditional ab crunches, etc... They were not the slow stretching and holding poses I am more familiar with. I bought this video because it claims to include babies in the workout, but the babies are included only minimally and in ways that are neither comfortable or relaxing for them. They are supposed to spend most of the workout time resting quietly on the mat next to you. As already mentioned, Khalsa does not have a baby with her as she leads this workout. My guess is because she's concerned about being interrupted by a fussy baby. I can't blame her, because that's what happened to me, but it probably means that the workout does not include babies in a way that makes them happy or relaxed. My suggestion? Get a yoga video for yourself that you can do while baby is asleep. You'll find it much more helpful and relaxing, and you won't have to worry about a fussy baby that you're supposed to be including every now and then in the exercises.
