Very Damaging to glasses & stainless,

I had so much hope for the Method Smarty Detergent for my dishwasher. I did a lot of research and read so many reviews. I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews about residue and damage to dishes, but I was blinded by the positive reviews and was really hoping to find a safer alternative to the mainstream detergent that I've been using for years. This detergent scratched my glasses. It's as if it permanently etched marks into them. It looks like it would just rinse off, but it doesn't. My All-Clad dishwasher-safe stainless steel pots were also ruined. They came out of the washer with what looks like a white film all over them. This also will not rinse off. My glassware and stainless cookware is absolutely ruined. I tried using three different rinse aids to see if that would make a difference (environmentally safe and mainstream) and I got the same results each time. This detergent worked well on my plasticware- which was my big concern. I really wanted something that wouldn't leave a chlorine smell and taste on my son's sippy cups and dishes. This seemed to be much better than the mainstream detergents. However, after seeing what it did to my other dishes, I don't know what it's actually leaving inside the cups.
So alas, this was a failed experiment. Back to the drawing board... Bottom line: a product with potential, but just doesn't clean all types of dishes well and has the ability to actually damage them. Why risk it?

We have been looking for a more earth- and people-friendly dishwasher detergent and tried this. My husband was skeptical about using a non-liquid detergent, but it does a great job washing the dishes. It sometimes left a white residue, but we added a small amount of vinegar in the "rinse" container of our dishwasher, and that did the trick. The dishes come out clean, and I feel better about what we're using to clean our dishes.

Finally an eco friendly dishwasher detergent that works! The glasses sparkle, the silverware is actually clean and sparkly too! They may be a bit pricey but it's a bargain compared to re-washing your dishes over and over.

The store was out of my regular tablets, so I bought the Method Smarty Dish tablets. I used it for the first time and my glasses, metal utensils, silverware and non-stick items were ruined. There is a film that will NOT come off. I have washed them 3 times by hand and run the dishwasher twice with plain water. This is one of the WORST products I have ever seen, and certainly prompted me to go online to write a review. Stay away from this!!!! I am sorry I didn't go to another store to buy my usual tablets!

works better than alternatives,

I've been trying out various green and non-green dishwasher detergents. Trader Joe's powder left a white deposit; gels were a bit better but still left deposits. I even tried Cascade, which worked but left residual odor. The Method smarty-tabs ($5 at Target) are not only easier but worked better than even the Cascade. No deposits on dishes or glasses; pots have slight deposit but nothing major. No leftover odors. I live in hard-water AZ and don't use rinse aid.

I have used these exclusively for a year now and they are fantastic. No odor and the dishes are super clean with no film. Cutlery and glass ware are stain and spot free. I have tried many eco-friendly options and none work well. These work as well as Cascade without the horrible smell and toxins. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

Works great, no hazardous chemicals!,

I have been using these for several months now, and unlike the other review I have never seen white film on any of my dishes. I think they leave the dishes at least as clean as the Cascade I used to use, without all the bad stuff that Cascade has in it. Highly recommend!

I wanted to try this dishwasher soap because I like Method products. This left behind residue on all of my dishes and glasses.

I love Method dish tabs. My repair guy warned me about tabs with plastic wrappers - noting that the plastic doesnt always dissolve and it will eventually clog up the dishwasher. I really like the method tabs because they clean well, arent messy to put into the dishwasher, dont waste detergent because of overfilling, and because I can keep them right on top of the counter in a nice glass container for easy access and they look super cute.I have not had any problem with filmy residue or scratching to my dishes or stainless steel pots, etc . . .

White film ruined my dishes!,
This review is from: Method Home Care Products 00923 20 Count Go Naked Smarty Dish Dishwasher Detergent
The first time I used these tablets they left a scummy film on my dishes. I figured it was my dishwasher and kept using it but the film got worse and worse. It ruined two OXO spatulas and my Denby dinnerware with a stone stripe. I've had to run my dishes through the dishwasher several times with liquid dish soap to get the soap scum off (including scrubbing by hand) and it's finally coming off. I would have given this product 1 star but I notice another reviewer thinks the residue may have been due to hard water. We have hard water here as well, so as a caution: if you have hard water at home you might want to try something else!!!
