5.0 out of 5 stars METHODIC is so good it should be in theaters!
***SPOILIERS***

I'm serious! I don't understand the jealous hatred some "reviewers" post about this film. I guess it's true. Those who can't do, BASH! Speaking of "bash", METHODIC has the distinction of being the very first "basher" film!

I think Amazon needs to investigate why all the reviews either are 5 stars or 1 star - statisticaly, this is a highly abnormal distribution curve. I think Amazon needs to investigate why all the reviews either are 5 stars or 1 star - statisticaly, this is a highly abnormal distribution curve. My theory is that the cast, crew and whoever shelled out the $3,000 to finance this crap are writing themselves good reviews. This theory is furthered by the fact that all the crap movies poduced this same company (I got suckered into buying several different movies by this film company by the "good" reviews) all have numerous 5 star ratings or 1 star ratings.

DO NOT BUY THIS MOVIE. It is absolutely pathetic. A highschool drama club could produce a better movie. It looks like it was shot using a Best Buy 70% off discontinued Camcorder. The lighting is terrible, and there are absolutely no, no, no production values. I can not iterate how bad this movie looks.

Now, on the acting. The cast in this movie shouldn't even be able to get work as extras, much less as actual actors. I rather watch funny pet videos on youtube for an hour and a half than watch these people act, and I hate funny pet videos. The acting in this movie is so bad, I don't think you could even really call it acting.

I still can't believe I bought this movie. DO NOT BUY THIS! The 5 star reviews are fake! This movie sucks!

I'm serious! I don't understand the jealous hatred some "reviewers" post about this film. I guess it's true. Those who can't do, BASH! Speaking of "bash", METHODIC has the distinction of being the very first "basher" film!

Anyway, sure there's a similarity to HALLOWEEN, but director Chris .R. Notarile freely admits his love of that film and that METHODIC was originally intended as a reboot / remake of the John Carpenter classic.

All that aside, METHODIC starts out on failiar ground with a small boy who kills his parents, but quickly developes into it's own interesting and original story where we learn that the entity known as "The Dollman" is more like a virus than a spirit so anyone can't become The Dollman. This theme is explored more in the short sequel METHODIC 1.5 and that film shows where the storyline is going and it has nothing to do with HALLOWEEN !!

As for the acting, Brandon Slagle, Niki Notarile, Tony Dadika and Stephen Muzzonigro completely nail their roles and the supporting cast is equally as good with standouts being Daniel Werzinger, Rachael Robbins and Roberto Lombardi (who's storyline features heavily in METHODIC 1.5 and the upcoming METHODIC II).

Visually, METHODIC is stark and disturbing in all the right places and the music really enhances the visuals. Pick this up if you like old school horror with a good story. If you're into body count movies about drunk teens, pass on this!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was convinced Hollywood ran out of ideas this year..., September 3, 2009

Tales from the dark side of Jersey...Demonic possession, senseless killing, skull crushing violence and a really hot lesbian scene all for under 30 million dollars.

It's about time Hollywood produced a movie that reflects true creativity...oh wait, this isn't Hollywood. This soon to be a classic horror flick Methodic, tells me there are still creative guys out there that know how to make a movie without a huge budget, famous actors and a pyrotechnic team...Notarile knows what viewers want! A film with panache... scare me!

If you've been watching movies for as long as I have then you'll appreciate director Chris .R. Notarile's horrific perspective in "Methodic". The movie is set right in your own backyard and Notarile captures the essence of what scared us all in the `80s and then fast forwards to the here and now. This is a one of a kind horror flick that will change the way we remember this decade. This is NOT another weekend at Camp Crystal Lake! The Dollman rocks!

As real as it gets....Your pulse will quicken as Methodic gives you just enough to keep you on the edge and in fear of what is yet to come, and you'll think twice about the quiet kid at the birthday party. Don't let the tears fool you either; I don't think this one is over just yet...more please!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great homage to slasher films of the 70's & 80's, June 30, 2009
By
This review is from: Methodic (DVD)
In the beginning, I thought this was just another rip-off of Haloween...to be honest, the only thing that kept me watching was the strong script and acting...but after a little while, the story took a turn and became something new and really good. It's a great example of the next wave of indie horror films.

Anyone who is a fan of horror films from the 70's and 80's should check out Methodic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Why Do I Fall for Good Reviews?, October 26, 2009

I fell for it again. I'm always looking for new, good horror movies and too many times I take a chance based on mostly good reviews. It happened again with this movie. Bad acting, ridiculous plot, not scary at all and I'll withhold my comments on the lesbians. To top it off, the director talks this film up in the "special features" like it's the next "Halloween" or "Psycho". It's hilarious that he actually believes what he is saying. Oh well, I guess it's my own fault for making the purchase but I cringe at the fact that I paid $13 for it.

I waited 3 weeks to get this because of the positive reviews.Slasherpool and horror review even said it was cool.I could hardly finish it to be honest. There was maybe one person who could halfway act and the rest were pretty weak. The killing scenes were weak as well and half the time they just cut away to another scene completely.I have been watching horror movies for years and this one just doesn't do it for me.This is listed as the world's first basher movie.I could bash myself over the head for buying it.

4.0 out of 5 stars a BASHER movie, not a slasher movie!, June 30, 2009

Saw Methodic at the Sacramento Horror Film Festival in 2007 and was really impressed by what director Chris R. Notarile was able to do with a small budget. It's a tight story with great suspense, good acting, strong action and some really inventive cinematography.

If you're a fan of indie horror films, you should check out Methodic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just another no-budget stinker, January 4, 2011

I've got to side with the reviewers who found this film awful. The plot is derivative of "Halloween," the acting is weak, the technical elements (cinematography, lighting, sound, storytelling, etc.) are amateurish, and the final product is completely lacking in tension or even cheap scares.

There are a lot of successful low-budget horror films out there, but this is not at all one of them. It's barely even Mystery Science Theater 3000-level fodder.

You got me! Again! Silly amazon reviewers with your lies and deceit... I fell for it. I bought it. I always like trying new movies especially indie movies because I've actually found 2 or 3 that were amazing and I got to show them off to all my friends. But this was just complete rubbish. I have a collection of fairly crappy movies that I've acquired, but this one went into the trash. I'll never watch it again, and I hope I forget about it in the near future. The acting was horrible and the story was even worse. Want a Michael Myers ripoff?? Here you go! 1/4 star for trying.
