I purchased this item for my 2000 audi A6 with bose stereo so i could install a pioneer head unit. when installed as directed, the speakers all emitted a high pitched alternator whine whether i was listening to the stereo or a cd. i knew the HU worked properly, and so did the factory stereo, so i checked the harness for possible fixes. i found no unwanted noises came through the speaker when, instead of hooking the rca adapters (on the harness) up to the preamp outputs (on the HU), i hooked the speaker level outputs (on the stereo) to the rca adapters (on the harness). so to fix the problem, i cut the RCA adapters off the harness, and soldered those wires directly to the speaker level outputs from the HU. now everything works and sounds great. I must admit, i expected more from metra. also - if you upgrade stereos, remember to get an antenna amplifier - audi doesn't use whip antenna's,and chances are your radio won't amplify the signal enough (even in the city).

I used this to install an aftermarket single-DIN radio in a Boxster.

Wiring this up with the fairly straightforward instructions took about twenty minutes including soldered connections with heat-shrink tubing -- means of connection I recommend for faultless reliability.

Then the install process took about fifteen minutes, mostly to deal with the trim around the old radio.

Works perfectly, looks and acts professional, and facilitates a reversible installation.

PS: this is the same harness supplied by car-audio specialty re-sellers for many Porsche/VW/Audi vehicles; applicable to those models that do not require a bus decode to provide switched power.

Used as a harness adapter in a 2000 Porsche Boxster (986) with stock amplified sound system for a cheap aftermarket head unit. Plugs right in, connect a few wires, and it was good to go. Happy with the purchase and the price.

Good quality, nice fit and plenty of cable to work with. For a Porsche 996 the constant and switched power leads are reversed, be careful.

Immediately upon opening the package for this harness, I realized that something wasn't right. The pins in both adapters simply didn't match the factory stereo wiring's pin pattern. There also are only a tiny fraction of the amount of pins in this harness that are in the factory harness. Without getting into deep detail, unless you're willing to start hacking away at very crucial wires in your car to get your aftermarket stereo to only function with limited ability, stay away from this product.

Note- I'm very experienced in installing car stereos and this is the only time I've run into something like this. Which is odd, because all I've ever used is Metra harnesses. This one, however, is a total nightmare and I really feel it should be listed that modification will be needed in order to obtain any form of functionality, and that said functionality will be very limited without further wiring.

Product description does not accurately describe the products function. I have a 2007 Audi A4 with the symphony 2 non bose stereo. This product does NOT work in this application. I guess the Audi radio is notorious for the rear speakers not working when installing an aftermarket radio. I went to multiple stereo shops and they either said they won't work on the car or they take Audi's on a case-by-case basis. Whyyy would they need to take A4's on such a basis if they are only 2 options for radio type (Bose and Non-bose). Anyway after fumbling with wires and trying different harnesses I went with the Enfig AUD3-Hilo wiring harness. Enfig has their act together and can provide proper support for installing an aftermarket radio in an 07 A4. Check them out. http://www.enfigcarstereo.com/

Not sure if everything was wired up correctly to begin with, but ill assume it was. If by chance anyone has an audi a6 (01-04), this might be useful. These are the corresponding wires to the power. Yellow goes to red/yellow of audi, black goes into brown, red goes into the blue/grey that's on the same row as the red/yellow. The problem I encountered was that the accessory wire (blue/grey) wasn't outputting enough voltage to kick on the head unit. I found out when I brought it to a shop that installs car stereos. I measured the voltage previously, 12v from that line and 12.4-12.5 from the red/yellow. I was told that the pioneer unit I had needed 12.5v to kick on.

the item was 10$ so why not right?
ended up getting it and wireing everything, super easy since its all color coated.
but right as i turned my car on i knew something was up, no power what so ever. so first thing was first, checked fuzes and made sure all wires were connected right. everything was right.
next i pulled out my handy dandy multimeter tester and what do you know...there was no 12v constant(from what the wires where labeled it was wrong) so i started checking more...well the 12v switch was actually my ground, my ground was my 12v constant and my 12v constant was my ground....kind of anyoying messing with all of these, also does not include antani adapter, nor the telephone option.
