5.0 out of 5 stars Used it on 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic
Great harness and great price, I'm writing this review to help someone find a great harness and doesn't want to spend over $80 for a harness (harness that holds the car chimes)
Tip during installation, since the Malibu classic doesn't provide a +12V ignition/accessory cable in the factory harness an extra red wire is provided so you can go to the fuse box and tap...

1.0 out of 5 stars Wrong Part, Bad description.
Bought this for a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. The Aztek has a double din smart radio (reads stations/songs/artist) but the cd player wouldn't work anymore. So I got the harness, mounting kit, antenna combo to install a new aftermarket cd player. One problem, If your factory stereo reads stations/song/artist you must purchase the more expensive wiring harness $60-100, not THIS ONE...

Great harness and great price, I'm writing this review to help someone find a great harness and doesn't want to spend over $80 for a harness (harness that holds the car chimes)
Tip during installation, since the Malibu classic doesn't provide a +12V ignition/accessory cable in the factory harness an extra red wire is provided so you can go to the fuse box and tap into it. Well, i found it more convenient to tap straight into the ignition harness, I use the accessory wire of the ignition wires(brown color). I connected my aftermarket radio illumination wire (orange white line) to the solid orange color of this harness. Hope this helps someone since I went to a little of trouble myself installing the radio and now I enjoy my aftermarket radio.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a 2003 GMC Sierra, May 31, 2011

I bought this to aid in the installation of a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT into my 2003 GMC Sierra. A word to the wise: Know your GMC harness before buying this (or a similar) item. Some GM products have a 24-pin connector to the radio/entertainment system and some have a lesser number. Pull the radio and count the connector pins before ordering if you don't know for sure. Don't frustrate yourself or the seller by not checking what you need up front.

That said, the harness connector was just what I needed. It was a perfect fit and allowed me to easily wire my new stereo into my truck without altering the stock harness. The Pioneer harness does need a 12v accessory line that isn't native to the GMC radio harness, but since I have a full service manual for my truck, it was easy to pick that line up from the fuse block. It's not Metra's fault that this product doesn't pick up an accessory line - there isn't one there!

Inexpensive and it makes the installation of a new stereo much easier. I like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Colors may not match up exactly, January 11, 2011

I bought two of these. One for a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer and one for a 2003 Pontiac Vibe. Worked great on the Chevy, but we had problems with the Vibe. We could not get sound out of the speakers though we had full power. After doing a lot of Googling, we figured out that we had to connect the blue/white wire to one of the black wires. I believe it was to #12. If you follow the diagram that comes with the packaging and forget about trying to match up the colors, you'll be fine.

Got this harness so I wouldn't have to hard wire a new stereo into my truck. Just connected the wires from the harness to the stereo harness, and one hot wire to the fuse box, and plugged it into the original stereo plug, and it was done!
Now, if I want to put the original stereo back into the truck when I replace the truck, all it will take is a few minutes to do.
Great product!

If your need wiring harness for Suburbans 98 and up this product may not be the right one for you. I didnt research enough and found another metra product also for GM models that DOES fit my suburban..... so Dont rely on the product description or automatic product finder... do more research before buying things like this. Other than that with the quality and price here you cant go wrong... well I guess I did but whatever.

for the price (total of $4 with shipping) this was perfect for my 2002 chevy trailblazer just match the wires with the connector that comes with the deck except for the red wires and the orange ones and plug the yellow one into the 4wd switch and you should be set install was easy and pretty straight foward.

Bought this for a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. The Aztek has a double din smart radio (reads stations/songs/artist) but the cd player wouldn't work anymore. So I got the harness, mounting kit, antenna combo to install a new aftermarket cd player. One problem, If your factory stereo reads stations/song/artist you must purchase the more expensive wiring harness $60-100, not THIS ONE or any of the other ones in the $5-20 range because of the door chimes and other things are set up through the speakers. You will see the difference in the picture of other harness. This harness doesn't have a power source so there is no power in it so your stereo won't turn on after wiring it up. Harness does fit into the clip in the dash. I spent a coupe of hours searching the web trying to figure out why it wasn't powering up. To come and find out that I was using the wrong harness. There is no way around it without causing yourself more problems/headaches and money (frying wiring). Returning it is pointless since you pay more for shipping. Product itself seems nice and build with quality, but the description is somewhat misleading since it isn't for all GM 98-Up. I'm sure if you don't have the Smart Radio you would be happy with the purchase as it seems to be a quality part. Hope to help prevent you from experiencing the issues I came across.

I had a bit of trouble finding which wiring harness would fit a 2003 Silverado (No OnStar or anything else fancy). The first one I was shipped wasn't the correct harness, went to Best Buy and they said they have one and it is 109.00, just for the harness. Ordered this one and it works great. 105.00 less than BB...

Hard to find the right connector. The pic didn't tell me enough. The description wasn't clear. Ended up being the right part. Thank You.

This review is from: Metra 70-2003 Radio Wiring Harness For GM 98-Up Harness (Electronics)
Like someone else here said, don't try to match up the colors but look it up or go by the diagram, and you will be fine. This worked perfectly for my 99 Silverado. Aggravating, but it works. I don't know why there can't be some sort of universal adapter to keep from splicing everything together, but in any event, this one worked for my truck.
