First off, let me say that I put this in my 2009 Nissan Frontier and it worked perfectly. All the wires coming from this adapter were color-coded using the industry standard colors, and they were also labeled on both the wires and the packaging. That makes it very easy to connect to most after-market head units since you just have to connect the wires that are the same color together.

As far as the connections went, I used standard crimp connectors that I already had on hand - wiring this thing up was extremely simple and fast.

This has nothing to do with this specific adapter, but I think I should mention it - it's been 20 years since I've installed a car stereo and I didn't realize that some manufacturers are no longer using the standard antenna connectors in their cars. Because of that, you will probably also need another adapter to connect the antenna input from the car to a standard antenna jack from an after-market stereo. I got caught having to make a special run to Best Buy and spending a bit more than the Amazon price since I wasn't expecting that.

Overall, I highly recommend this harness. You can install your head unit without one - but I think the advantages are well worth the low price.

Oddly enough, this is the correct interface for the 2008+ Subaru STI. I don't know why they don't have it listed for Subaru but you can verify this by doing a search for your vehicle on [...] and it will tell you that the 07 Nissan Maxima/Versa connection is what you need for a 2008+ Subaru STI.

May also work for other Subarus but check with Crutchfield first.

I bought this harness to install a JVC double din media head unit on my 2008 impreza 2.5i. All the wires are there using standardized color codes, which made installing the head unit a breeze. It even had a sticker on the black ground wire which said "subaru only" because subaru includes the ground on the main harness, i'm guessing nissan does not so you'll need to use a dash frame bolt for ground.

The reason i gave it 2 stars is because it's not fully populated with wires, in particular it didn't have pins 4 and 14 which i needed to install the steering wheel controls. I ended up improvising using another wire harness i had laying around for another subaru.

In summary, if you want to install just the head unit and not steering wheel controls, then this harness will work great. However if you want to utilize steering wheel controls without hacking your factory harness, find a different harness. This isn't what you want.

This is not the full 20-pin wiring harness. It only come with the 13 wiring for connection to the aftermarket connector. If you needs to have the steering wheel control wiring, you have to connect separately if you are using AXXESS, ASWC-1 steering wheel control. Still have to locate the SWC wire and connect separately from the radio harness.

no problems using this with my 12 Xterra and a Clarion CX501 double din deck. The factory dimmer does not seem to dim the deck, but that could be an issue with the Clarion..

you have to hack your factory harness if you want steering wheel controls or aux-in, as this harness contains only the bare minimum of wires.

metra won't sell you extra wires, nor are they available :(
