This review is from: Metro Cast Iron Panini Press #1108 (Kitchen)
I bought this pan based on the reviews and description. My pan is in the trash as I type this. The handle for the heavy press is plastic attached by a metal screw. Well, the screw could not handle the weight of the press and it came crashing to the floor and does not screw back in. So, the press is worthless. The description gave the impression that I was buying a solid iron product; there is no mention of plastic. I might have kept the pan, to salvage some sort of usefulness, but it has a strange paint-like smell to the "enamel." I am not sure what is coating this pan because none of my other enameled kitchen pans have ever smelled like this. I just find this to be a total waste of money. It is not a quality item and I would not be surprised if some sort of recall occurs with this lousy pan. I hope I have saved someone else from making the mistake I did in purchasing this product.

I was looking at a Le Crueset version of this originally, but I found this product on-line. It came quickly and the quality is just like the other brand I have, but without the second mortgage requirement.

I love the fact that you can use this pan for so much more than
just paninis. I've used it to make hamburgers and to heat the Naan bread which comes out with lovely grill marks. You can even make quesadillas with it. Even though it comes pre seasoned it's a good idea to do it again. Otherwise things get sticky. The only downside if you want to call it that is you can only do one at a time. I bought this because I don't like breaking out my professional size panini maker unless it's requested. This is much easier to deal with.
