I bought and compared two hands free openers and here are my results. My sister has hand pain due to chemo and needed help opening things. I saw an opener of this type on TV which I decided to try as a possible solution for her, but since I wasn't convinced of its quality, I also ordered this one to compare. I like this one so well, I've returned the other and ordered a second one of these for myself.

Both these automatic openers are small enough to fit in a drawer easily which is great and unlike counter top models don't need to be plugged in. Who has space or an empty socket?

I've used an old manual swing style can opener forever but have recently been impressed with the idea of the side opening gadgets which this is. I had tried two manual ones previously, but while I like the results (a lid with no sharp edges and no can top dust falling into the contents), I found those devices quite hard to turn on certain cans. I don't have serious hand problems, some carpel tunnel and arthritis, but nothing like what my sister is suffering from which makes turning any manual opener quite painful. Still I found the manual side openers sufficiently difficult that I returned to the old swing style, groddy cutting blade and all.

The TV automatic opener I tried requires four AA batteries and I actually had to read the instructions to figure out how to get the compartment open, which was difficult, and if you have hand issues, that would be a problem. This model opens easily for battery insertion and only requires two AAs. Right off the bat I liked that it was lighter weight because of only two batteries.

This opener is very easy once you learn how it works....some people have told me that they have been unable to get it to work when it slips off the lip...it is very simple to reset ...two ways 1: on bottom right of the blade unit there is a hole with a screw type headed plastic fitting turn it counter clockwise and it opens the blade to reset the jaws for the next can. 2: same as above except look left of the blade and you will see a vertical lever/ switch, hold it down keeping clear of the teeth and let it run until the jaws open.
Once it grips the can let it do it's thing...it is that simple...and it is that easy.
This purchase will be number 3 for me house, shop & now for the RV.

I have arthritic thumbs, so opening cans can be a very painful job for me. I once had a Black and Decker cordless can opener that I liked very much, but, sadly, they do not make the model anymore. I tried this as a substitute and I like it even better. I barely have to do anything other than place it on a can and it starts working automatically, with minimal hand involvement at all. I have used it on all size cans without a problem and the cuts are neat, without jagged edges. It is small enough to fit neatly in my flatware drawer. I keep a large supply of AA batteries on hand, but I have not had to change them since purchase. I highly recommend this.

I purchased two of these automated can openers for my mother. She wanted to have a new one like the one she bought a few years ago. I purchased the most popular one on here that is tear-shaped for $27. Garbage and sent it back the first week. Bought one of these and received it a week after I got the one that didn't work. It works great like the video. She loved it so much I ordered another one for her so she can have a spare for the future. She used them both 5 times and they keep on going. MetroCC is a good product. Cheers.

This can opener is super for anyone who has trouble opening things. I have arthritis and this opener has helped greatly when
some of the cans do not have flip tops.

I broke my wrist. After 3 months I still cannot use a regular turn can opener.
This is absolutely hands free.
There is zero food or liquid that gets into the can opener area because it cuts on the sides of the can.
Stops by itself.

I highly recommend this product.
Safe for children and probably fun to watch for them.
Great for camping too.

I had never used a product like this, until I broke my thumb, and needed help in opening just about everything. I don't have the counter space for another gadget, so I thought that I would give this a try. It works as advertised, but you do have to pay attention, and make sure that the can is not oddly shaped, and the can has a sufficient rim. It has been a life saver.

I bought this can opener for my aging mother in law who has arthritis in her hands and was really struggling with any kind of traditional can opener. She lives alone and is not mechanically inclined at all. She was able to use it immediately without any help, so those of you who worry about your older relatives who aren't gadget friendly fear not! She loved it so much she ran to the store and bought more soup so she could open more cans. I immediately bought another 1 Touch Can Opener for my step mother who has similar problems with gadget aversion and arthritis and we got the same results. She was also thrilled with the product.
